Hope he's not another Gregory or Kneeland(RIP) type disappointment.

Heck, I'd take a Dorance Armstrong type ceiling regarding a consistent edge pressure type performer at this point.
Gregory ruined himself with weed.

Not sure you can call Kneeland a disappointment because of his situation, he never got a chance to develop. What happened with him was sad and tragic, not disappointing.

May be true in both cases considering individual circumstances but neither showed consistent edge pressure regardless.
Gregory flashed much more than Kneeland certainly.

The guy played in 18 career games for two terrible coaching staffs.

Not every rookie defensive end jumps on the scene making a Parsons type splash, and Parsons was a linebacker at first, but I'm not a 3 year wait and see develop type guy.
Sorry if I need to see a little more early on regardless because if not I'll most likely compare it to the Mazi Smith and Taco Charlton developmental project plan. I understand context and semantics so you don't hafta do a counter on Charlton and Mazi pointing out individual circumstances again.
Guyton seems to be in this same developmental mode as well.
Spare me the Guytons been injured to fully assess him crap cuz "when he's been healthy" he has sucked as well.

So...
How about a blanket up til now EZ has not met my expectations similar to past early d line and oline performers and just leave it at that?
Don't even hafta go into specifics that way.
Yep, that'll do.

Other than pure sack total EZ had a really good rookie yr and by all other measures was one of the best rookie DE/Edge guys picked last yr, outperforming several guys drafted WAY ahead of him (including Abdul Carter & Shemar Stewart)

He has a bright future, hopefully he is 100% by traning camp as he is rumored to be.

I still think you are being way too down on Kneeland considering he only had 18 games and was stuck with two terrible defensive staffs.

I still saw tight ends handling him in one on one's on large portion of snaps so my All 22's calibration may not match yours.
With all other posts considered I usually consider all past performance related comments I make to include coaching staffs and health. I believe, and may be it's just me, that at some point you hafta say to yourself was this guy showing alot even when he was healthy?
And again, regardless of coaching.
At some point in time ya hafta honestly ask yourself did he meet your expectations.
As with Gregory, Taco, Mazi or Kneeland, the answer is No.
Again regardless of circumstance.
Their individual play when healthy didn't merit a 2nd contract period.
I see Guyton the same way.
We'll see what happens with him.

Ultimately with Kneeland, if he were still alive he'd probably be a candidate to be moved as I don't see him as a fit in Parker's style of defense. He was really drafted to be a base 4-3 LDE (ala Demarcus Lawrence). He was never a true "edge" guy or someone that you'd stand up as a pass rushing OLB.

Two of the best coaches in league history (Landry and Parcells) were pretty big proponents of the 3yr rule for developing players. That's good enough of a for me.

Yep, I'm a huge fan of Landry/Parcells and most all their coaching philosophies.
But something has to make you scratch your head when a team like the Dallas Cowboys, notorious for keeping high bust round selectees too long, would just give up on high draftees ie Taco and Mazi...?
So again, ya need to show something in that 1st 3 years...Context and all.
And yeah,
They didn't.
Neither has Guyton to this point.
Not just because of his health either.
I'm giving EZ this year. That's it.
If no improvement he's just like Guyton to me.

Most invisible FS in the history of the league.

5 seasons here. 7 total interceptions. 14 TOTAL passes defensed. Always late over the top for double team help. Never takes a good angle to the football. Then add missed tackles galore last yr. Worst player on the defense now that Kenny Murray is gone.

Whether free or strong, we know he ain't getting Thompson or Downs's snaps. I think the only real question is can he get snaps from Bell or Locke and ...I'm missing one other guy right?

That doofus Hostile who owns Cowboysown.com and banned me for "spying" is too stupid not to continue sending emails to me so lucky for y'all, I'm here to post some of his "inside scoop". It would be nice if he learned to work in a paragraph or two, here it is in all its unedited glory:

Dear yimyammer It is that time of year again that we get excited about an upcoming season. Here at CowboysOwn the family feel of the forum is better than ever. Now we just need the Cowboys to be better than ever. Right? There are a lot of things that lead me to believe that is happening. First of all the coaching changes to younger, hungrier guys has me motivated. I especially love the defensive changes and the focus we already see for change. The Draft was about as good as it can get for us. If we had the number 1 pick, I would have wanted Caleb Downs. I absolutely believe he was the best player in this draft. To get him at 11 was even better. Then adding Malachi Lawrence and Jaishawn Barham was a huge and needed upgrade. The trade for Dee Winters, and the acquisitions of Rashan Gary, Jalen Thompson, and Cobie Durant all added to what was begun last year with overhauling the DT position. Now we have some very real depth and players who can attack. Finally last week the schedule came out. There are two stretches of 3 game sin 12 days. We always have that at Thanksgiving. This year the NFL added another for and threw a trip to Rio De Janeiro Brazil into the mix. You think Jerry will stay in Rio? A little birdie tells me something else might still be cooking too. If the time is right I will share that one the forum. Which is where I hope you will all be this year. The greatest private Dallas Cowboys forum in the world. Bet. You are what makes it great. never doubt it. Some edits have happened and there is more history stored on the forum than any site anywhere. More is still coming too. Oxnard is just 65 days away, and football will be back. Dallas Cowboys football. There is nothing better. You have every right to be excited. Offensive players we added last year, paid off big and ae back. Now the Defense has been revamped. There is no way on this earth we won't improve by a lot. The NFC East is the toughest division in all of football. 14 of the 60 Super Bowl winners are from the NFC East. Only one other division has double digit winners and they are 4 behind. The NFC East is the hardest division to sweep. It has only been done 3 times. Twice by Dallas. A third time is coming. That's not a prediction, it's a spoiler. I hope to see you all on the forum reading the best content for our Cowboys that there is. I would love it if everyone posted. How 'Bout Them Cowboys?

thankfully I'm still allowed to participate in the second greatest Dallas Cowboys forum in the world

There is last yrs UDFA Alijah Clark but he is probably a longshot at best to make the team.

Rookie 4th rd pick Devin Moore they said could play CB and FS.
