I predict the jury will find her not criminally responsible. My reasons are:
1. Its liberal Massachusetts
2. The judges jury instructions were basically an order to find her not criminally responsible.
3. The judge has favored the defense throughout the trial allowing the defense attorney to disrespect, berate, and argue with prosecution witnesses. Whatever happened to "Objection. Argumentative."?
4. Seeing Lindsay in a wheel chair, which the defense pointed out numerous times, the jury will have sympathy and feel she paid a high enough price.
5. It's liberal Massachusetts.
It's a shame really because 3 kids died and all that seems to matter is the killer is a victim of the system.
Why should she be found guilty?
1. She strangled 3 children to death, one by one, looking them in the face as she did it. It took 2 to 5 minutes to strangle each child.
2. Her claim that she only heard the male voice when she killed her kids and hasn't heard it since defies the typical guidelines defining psychosis. It is a convenient story.
3. She planned to create the opportunity to kill her children.
4. She received text messages and a phone call from her husband during the period she was killing her kids. Her ability to deal with the messages and phone call without tipping off what she was doing or that she was in crisis indicates she had control and she knew what she was doing was both morally and legally wrong.
5. When she awoke from coma in the hospital she asked if she needed a lawyer, another indication she knew what she was doing or what she did was legally wrong.
6. 3 small children are dead. Forever. She killed them. Hearing voices did not get the Son of Sam killer off. He claimed his neighbors dog spoke to him. He was actually psychotic.
7. As a nurse, she would know how to kill herself. Her hesitation wounds on her wrists and neck indicate she was in control of her actions after she killed her kids. And why kill your kids when a voice told you to but not kill yourself with the same determination?
8. Her internet searches indicate she planned not only when to kill her kids but also how to get away with it.
She needs to go to prison, but she won't. That is my fear. Infanticide will become legal by virtue of the 18 minute insanity plea. This is not a case of Lindsay not getting the help she needed. Keep in mind she and her husband are also suing doctors and hospitals claiming her treatment was improper (another long story I would love to get into). This is a case of a narcissistic mother killing her 3 children by strangulation then considering her own life to precious to take. Prison is too good for her.
