There was a time when overpopulations was going to destroy us too. That was about 3 billion people ago.
But to be fair, Acid rain was real, although a little overhyped. The hole in the ozone layer was also real. We took appropriate steps to correct those problems without taking control of everyone's lives. Removing some gases from aerosol cans was not a big deal. Easy fix and everyone goes on with their lives. Reducing air pollution to reduce the sulfur buildup in the atmosphere was a good move too, although costly in terms of automobile production. Again, we were able to accomplish this without taking control of people's lives.
This is where the Climate Change problem deviates from the past. The Climate Change crowd wants to take control over most aspects of out lives. They want to ban light bulbs, gas powered cars, lawnmowers, leaf blowers, stoves, water heaters, furnaces and other appliances. They ant to lower the amount of water you use in toilets, dishwashers, and washing machines. They want you to eat bugs instead of meat. In other words they want you to adhere to their beliefs instead of your own. And, they want America to submit to the will of globalists who hate America. All this in the name of climate change. It's nonsense. This is just one more area where science has been perverted by politics.

During the Medieval warming period, Europeans were faming land that is today covered by ice and snow. The same is true of European Mountain ranges. Yet during this warming period, instead of devastation, disease and famine, mankind flourished. This, of course presented a problem for the climate alarmists. Warming temperatures are supposed to bring mass extinctions and calamities. So what is a determined climate alarmist to do?
They did what they have been doing with this climate hoax from the beginning. They got together a group of scientists, led by none other than Michael Mann (yup, that guy), to revise everything we thought we knew about the Medeival Warming Period. This new study from 2009 revised the temperature estimates from 5 degrees to 2 degrees. They changed it from a global warming event to a local event confined to Western Europe and the North Atlantic. No real explanation for this event and written records of the time seem to contradict the study, but what does it matter. The mission was to blow up reality in favor of alarmism. It worked. The study s accepted science without question now.
