Am assuming that Broaddus is right and Hitchens starts at strong OLB. Wilbur continues as backup strong OLB and sometimes nickel DE.

Smith is then the backup at weak OLB and Toomer is still in limbo.

Patmon will be active as 4th CB

Just kills me that they aren't giving Toomer a chance. Broaddus said that there is some dissension between the coaches and the scouts. The scouts want to see him on the field but the coaches aren't comfortable with him. You have to trust your scouts, IMO.

Seriously though, this kind of crap bugs me. It just seems there is some issue with this defensive staff and the personnel department. It started with the Floyd thing in the draft and it doesn't seem to have improved.

Sterling Moore is a similar case. The guy played well in camp, did good in exhibitions, yet the coaching staff just kept insisting he wasn't what they needed in their scheme, but somehow B.W. Webb was. They eventually cut him and were incredibly fortunate he sat around and they were able to sign him back.

Now, I don't know if Toomer is actually practicing well, but is getting the same treatment, but I could see it. Easily.

Agreed. It's not a good sign. This team has some really good cohesion right now, and we don't need the rest of the organization fucking that up because they don't trust each other. I blame Garrett.

That's where I'm at. Especially if you're all that stressed about improving the situation, as they say they are. Throw stuff up on the damn wall, see what sticks. Hell, MODIFY your scheme to fit the personnel you have, if it's needed.

I think it was boozestile who pointed out at CZ that maybe there arnt as many similarities between the Dallas and Seattle defensive scheme as some wanted to believe. If there were, I don't see why he'd need so much time to prepare for whatever his responsibilities are here vs what he had in Seattle.
