If Dallas won a Super Bowl this year, I wouldn't all of a sudden sing Jerry's praises as owner/GM.
I doubt anyone would.
I wouldn't expect anyone who says Romo sucks now, to praise him if he wins a SB.
But the entire Romo debate goes away, because he got the ring and the hardware.

It's not like this is Dan Marino or anything. Dude never got the ring or the hardware either but at least he won playoff games, conference championship, and got to play for a ring. And was a regular 300 yard passer during a time when it wasn't average.

Romo's legacy will be a punch line if he doesn't do at least what Marino was able to do.

You do realize that Jerry will be putting him in the ROH one day, championship or no championship, right?

I trust Romo and the Cowboys more when we enter the 4th qtr losing by 7 than winning by 10.

Yep and probably before Bill Bates, whose total RoH snub is completely criminal.

But you're right. If Romo happens to be on a Dallas team that somehow wins a Super Bowl, all will be forgotten! Just like all of Roger's fumbles and picks, and all of Troy's fumbles and picks.

"Winning is a great deodorizer." -- John Madden. See how that works?

"Choke fumble" is how real Dallas fans remember the 1981 NFC championship game at Candlestick, 'The Catch' wasn't the end of that story - Danny White's choke fumble that followed, was. It's coughing up the ball under pressure at the worst possible time in a big game. Surprising that needed explanation.

As well as the shoestring tackle on Drew Pearson

It was a finger on the collar of the jersey, otherwise Pearson takes it to the house. That's what made the fumble which came next, so very bad.
~ reminds self to remember our new skynet overlord is trolling ~
What? You guys don't think Bill Bates should be in the RoH?

Hos went apeshit when I balked at him calling Bates "legendary." I like Bill and all, but he's not a Cowboy legend.

He's not THE embodiment of the Cowboys? Highly honorable man off the field, huge overachiever on the field. Teams used to scout for him on special teams, drilling specifically to stop him on kick coverage. Double teaming, everything else. They created a special teams specialist position in the Pro Bowl specifically for him.

When Jimmy came along he made it his mission to cut Bates but couldn't. And that was every year he was looking to do that. The guy who was too small, too slow, just kept making plays. For fifteen freaking years he wore the star.

Huh?

He was a try-hard, scrappy overachiever but his play wasn't legendary. Great special teamer and adequate nickel back but no legend. There are a lot of non-legendary Cowboys who went to the Pro Bowl multiple times.
