Ferrari's arnt mediocre. This team was mediocre when Parcells left.

Need to remove your head from Parcell's crotch dude. He was burned out the day he took over as HC, and it was proven in the way the team performed over his 4 years. No division titles. No playoff wins. Embarrassing playoff loss his last game to a team we should have beaten pretty easily.

I think he did a solid job of upgrading the talent and the atmosphere from the Gailey/Campo garbage, but this team was not elite when he left. Quit acting like it was.

What do you think of Wade Phillips?

The author was probably writing this "be patient!" drivel when we were starting guys like Clay Shiver and Solomon Page. Just because magic happened for us under Jimmy's tutelage doesn't mean history is going to repeat itself 20 years later. In fact, I'd bet heavily against it.

No kidding.

Do we really have to reach back 2 decades to find a sound argument?

For fuck sakes, we're talking about a time pre-internet. And that may sound ridiculous but when you consider limited time to scout because you have to travel or wait for video tapes to arrive by snail mail, I think it's pretty relevant.

How can anyone say those guys wouldn't be drafted today based on where they were drafted at a time when information and footage was ridiculously inadequate?

Guess how many NFL players came from Troy up until the 1993 season. I don't know for sure but I'm betting not many because Wiki has the number at 34 TODAY.

TWO 1st round picks. That means not a single one until.....Ware. Who here is going to say that Ware would have been picked in the first round back in the early 90s? Anyone gonna take that?

Who was drafted when at one point in time is just about the dumbest argument someone can make when comparing to a modern day environment.

This article is fucking retarded. Because something happened to work at some point in time, that makes it the correct way in spite of it not working at all ever since.

If Jerry really believed what Vela says Jerry believes, the Cowboys wouldn't have drafted Tyron Smith with the 9th overall pick in the draft last year.

Like SuperPunk said, all of the injuries prevent us from knowing if the Cowboy's more recent OL acquisitions were good or bad.

I personally believe that the Cowboys should have used more resources on the OL, but it won't be until most of the now injured players are healthy and playing together that we'll know whether the Cowboys' strategy was wise or foolish.

Other people have mentioned it before, but the team is just way too reactive. They are also way too optimistic (which I think starts with Jerry)

I think they just assume that these guys are going to pan out and then are caught with their pants down when they don't.

I also think Jerry is desperately trying to be viewed as innovative for something. I think two kicker thing with Buehler was an attempt at that. I think this nonsense about rotating in corners like defensive linemen is an attempt at that.

I think the mindset is that Livings and Mackenzie are band-aids, backed by the fact that you don't need superstars on the line, minus LT, so that the resources can go elsewhere for now. I'm sure if the next Larry Allen was sitting in the draft, they would have taken him.
