Picking Manziel at 16 would be a genius move by Jerry. Not only putting millions of dollars instantly into his pocket but having the foresight to draft a franchise QB in advance. I don’t think drafting a QB proves the Cowboys have secret concerns about Romo’s back. It’s a back injury, there should be concern.

I think Romo would handle it perfectly. They guy has all the money he will ever need. A gorgeous wife and healthy kids. He has achieved more success in the NFL than anyone could have expected from an undrafted free agent. I think Romo is very content in his life.

I wouldn't mind if we drafted Manziel at 16 and agree we should be concerned about Romo's back... But there's no way we could do it and not create an instant controversy. Even if Romo were 100% and playing great ball the media would be all over it and fucking momo fans would boo Romo mercilessly when he threw his first INT. I think the only way we draft him is if Romo is done now. If they think he's going to be healthy you roll with what we have. If he gets hurt again during the season then we should get a higher draft pick and then can focus on QB next year.

Every INT Romo throws is instant controversy. I think he has proven he can handle it. A little competition might help Romo. Picking Manziel at 16 is taking advantage of a golden opportunity. Much like Green Bay did years ago taking Rodgers or when the Cowboys took Bryant when they already had Roy Williams and Miles Austin. Drafting a successor in advance is better. They get time to learn and grow into the position.
