Dallas Cowboys: Troy Aikman: 'Unless practices change,' Cowboys may not win a title in another 20 years either | SportsDay

Here's the money quote in my opinion.

"And I think you've got to be able to look back on something and say, 'OK, we're building something here and these things that we do pay off,' but I haven't seen that, so I don't anticipate any time soon anything being any different from what we've seen the last 20 years."

What a hater and fake fan. He needs to find a new team to cheer for. Troy must not have liked those 3 Super Bowls very much. He wasn't that good when he played either. He was the product of the team around him.

Full article:

On the 20th anniversary of Super Bowl XXX, Pro Football Hall of Famer and Fox analyst Troy Aikman visited with The Musers in Dallas on 96.7 KTCK-FM and 1310 KTCK-AM The Ticket.

Aikman led the Dallas Cowboys to three Super Bowl victories in four years as their quarterback, including the final win over the Steelers in 1996. He was asked in his weekly Thursday visit 20 years after that victory if it would be another two decades before his former franchise could win a title.

"I don't know," said Aikman. "This team, for 20 years, really has been so inconsistent. And unless practices change, I don't see that changing any time soon. You look back at last year and 12-4 and get excited about that, but was 12-4 really what this team is or is 8-8? I don't think 4-12 is this year because of the injuries that occurred.

"But you've got to do it more than once every seven or eight years before you can say, 'Hey, the things that we're doing are really paying off.' It's been a long history of frustration and up-and-down years, and, for the most part, disappointment.

"And I think you've got to be able to look back on something and say, 'OK, we're building something here and these things that we do pay off,' but I haven't seen that, so I don't anticipate any time soon anything being any different from what we've seen the last 20 years."

What, specifically, about the practices needs to change? I know during TC and all the team is treated like rock stars, with all the celebrity visits and all. But is it also a circus during the regular season?

I don't think he means practices as in "on the field" but rather organizational practices like structure and decision making.

Yeah agre with Dodger, I think he meant the atmosphere in general and the way things were conducted.

Most specifically, I suspect he means Jerry usurping the coaches authority with the players, and players skate by too much.

He does. I could swear someone posted about this yesterday...

But basically he means Jerry. Sounds like Troy is hung up on titles. Doesn't he know Jerry basically does nothing over there?

Yeah, I was going to take a conversation or two in that direction but it's just not worth my time. Besides, this organization is run by McClay, Stephen and Garrett. Jerry is just a figurehead who signs the checks....just like every other organization.

Even if Jerry didn't do this, Garrett would still be a lousy coach. I think Aikman is being diplomatic in not calling out his friend.
