I doubt they made this trade with the hopes it was somehow saving the season. This seems like part of a plan for the future.

This was a business move, not a football move. We traded for a 28 year old DT with 2 years remaining on his contract who is joining a bad D with a bad scheme and a bad DC. We traded a #1 and #2. Good teams build through the draft and Dallas is just pissing away it's draft capital instead of stocking picks and making good moves in free agency. Williams will come here with no accountability and will just adopt the country club atmosphere.

It's a business move because Jerry's goal is to stay relevant. We've drafted poorly with little plan in sight.

I can get on board with this trade!

I just wish we weren’t giving up the 2nd rounder.

Otherwise it would be 1 first rounder AND we dump Mazi?

I’ll take that all day everyday!

Well, as much as I am sick and tired of Jerry, and wish I could get a different name to blame, at least Jerry isn't sitting on his ass and is trying. I'll give him that.

Time will tell if these moves are good ones or if Quinnen Williams will want a king's ransom in 2027 etc.

Coincidentally, Kenny Clark will also need a new contract after or during 2027

Just looked up Kenny Clark's contract too. He's also up in 2027. https://overthecap.com/player/kenny-clark/4739

My default is to keep the picks. But I'm also trying to be optimistic.

Jerry does have a way of keeping the Cowboys in the news even when they suck.

If the Jets play it right, they could be serious contenders soon. They obviously need to hit on a QB. Menendez maybe, then, fill in around him.

In fact, 3 years from now, the Jets could be one of the best teams in the NFL and we'll all be complaining that we are in salary cap hell all over again and can't afford to keep anyone.

We'll see. Jerry relies on that revenue going up every year.

We'll be looking for DT's again in 2 years. Book it. And we'll have to spend another 1st round pick because we can't draft for shit. This is terrible. But Jerry is giving away picks for a short window that doesn't exist but it may give him some hope for the few years he has left. You can't hate that fuck and his spawn enough.

Well, I have no idea if Williams likes livnig around the Big Apple or not. Who knows, once his contract is up he might go back there.

But, given that Namdami is likely going to be mayor, he has to be happy for his pocketbook.

I gotta say that I am leaning toward your perspective. I was hoping that we could parlay a number one into 2 number 2 or something like that.

We basically also threw away any chance, HOWEVER REMOTE, of getting a different QB, but Jerry has a love affair with Dak, so...we have until the end of 2027 to try to get the most out of Clark and Williams.

Heck, if we can somehow get a SB in that time it will be worth it...LOL, look at me...SB, bah ha ha

They'll remain the New York Jest regardless of draft capital. We've seen this movie.

We're not making the playoffs....let alone SB. This team is fatally flawed from the coaching staff to the QB to the talent on D.

If possible, I'd still like to see moves at DT. I'd like to see if the overall rotation can still be improved.
How many DT's we do we need? Osa is here long term and probably just "improved" a lot by being next to QW moving forward. Clark may or may not be here after this season, tending to think he might be back under restructured deal. Solomon Thomas has graded pretty high, especially compared to other league backup DT's.

We're also getting Perrion Winfrey back (not sure if he is under contract next yr or not)

Maybe you add another DT at some point over next two drafts but I wouldn't spend a really premium pick on it.

Then everyone should be happy to add an all pro at the cost of a 2nd in 2026 and a 1st in 2027. (which on the draft value chart would be valued as another 2nd)

The draft value chart values future picks at one less round that actual.

So in Jimmy's world of valuing draft picks, we traded two 2nds for Quinnen Williams.

No buddy. That's not the answer. The answer is to revamp your talent evaluators and fix what ails your failed franchise. Not waste valuable draft capital on aging players with 2 years left on their contract. It's fucking lunacy and stupid. You ONLY trade that draft capital for a franchise QB.
