Again, not all coaches feel that way even if they know 100% what the outcome is going to be.
every second he's not w/ the 1st team is 1 second wasted

as the game has gotten more and more pussified, you routinely hear coaches harping about how they're allowed less and less time to have physical practices and it makes it harder to gel together . hands down, the unit most effected by this on offense or defense is the OL

booker shouldnt be sitting behind brock hoffman or anybody. hes teh 12th overall pick. big attitude guy. instant leader. (so we're told) no time to fuck around and play mind games w/ that guy, or any 12th OVERALL GUARD that you just drafted. too much value to not be drafting an instant starter at OG

there are no asthma fields and the rookie is making more money than most of the other guys he plays with

start him NOW

And he was running 1st team reps, right? They agree with you apparently.

I just pointed out that not all coaches do that and some think any player should first "earn" the role before they just jump into it. I'm sure if you do enough digging you'll find at least some of the other teams didnt immediately put their 1st rd picks in the starting lineup day one of OTA's.

And when the opposite happens you get some dumbshit fans whining about it "oh such and such player only got that spot because of draft or compensation level"

i went back like 10 years and no team that has drafted a pure guard in the top 15 had him sitting

it happened a couple times when the player played tackle in college and converted to guard... there wree only 3 pure guards drafted in the top 15 in the last 10 years (chris lindstrom, quinton nelson, and kenyon green) - they all started day 1

all i am saying is that the OG the team drafted at 12th overall needs to play asap. the OP nick harris posted on twitter "for what its worth he's RG1", like yeah, no shit sherlock. he better be. if not, we got a big problem

and when fans whine saying "oh such and such player only got that spot because of draft or compensation level" -- the fan says that because the player has played and the player has sucked

I didn't comment on any particular position, just in general.

The last comment you made, you need to go enlighten yourself with IdiotZone and some of their ridiculous takes over the years.

Just a curious what if scenario for me.
But what if the brand new coaching regime ran a no free scholarships program to any positions and camp was an open competition atmosphere and those positions were all "earned by camp performance."
I mean, what if Hoffman beat him out in camp?
Then what...?

I like Hoffman but unless Booker got hurt there is zero chance of that happening.

Booker is eons more talented and also a lot bigger and more physical.

booker is starting... he needs to be

to me, the elephant in the room is if the OL combo's are going to move around

i think
smith / hoffman / beebe / booker / steele or guyton

might be better than
guyton / smith / beebe / booker / steele

I think we have two damn good OL coaches and whatever they decide works for me. Their track records are both pretty damn solid.

And right now it seems they've decided on Guyton/Smith/Beebe/Booker/Steele.

The staff is sneaky good. And it was assembled quietly no flash or splash.

It won't mean much until we see the product on the field but the players certainly seem to be buying into Coach Schotty and this new staff.
