Not every coach inserts 1st rd picks right into the starting lineup. Jimmy and Parcells didnt always do it. Plenty of others.

That said, Booker is really good and he's walking into a spot where the HoF guy retired. They know he's eons better than the backup guys we had.

cmon lets be serious..... that pick was an assumed starter from the second they made it, successor to martin, filling a void at leadership,..... all these things coming from the team

Again, not all coaches feel that way even if they know 100% what the outcome is going to be.
