I don't agree (respectfully). I agree with David that these guys look like high school players. It's more than just scheme issues in the preseason. No one schemes in the preseason. But this team doesn't look anything like a football team and that's shocking considering guys are fighting for their jobs. It's partially talent and mainly culture and the attitude is a player wide cancer.
I think we actually agree. I'm hopeful that Schotty has a bit of his dad in him and really is calling plays strictly for evaluation. That's actually how it used to be done. Tom Landry lost a boatload of preseason games. The team looked horrible, and then they got to the playoffs. In fact, they rarely lost the first game of the season.
Yes, I am being very hopeful. I did hear Schotty allude to that idea though, so that is why I have a glimmer of hope on that. He did explain why some coaches don't. Basically it had to do with the idea that when a coach has been around for a while there really isn't much to hide anyway.
But of course, that goes against my Tom Landry example.
Even Jimmy did it a bit. He'd call plays that he KNEW would not work, but he called them anyway to see if the TE made the block or if the RB hit the right hole, etc.
Again, I agree, they look like shit. I'm just trying to be hopeful. It has to look better with Lamb, Pickens, etc.
