To me, this sounds like we can expect the Cowboys will lose a bunch of their free agents this off-season. All this blather is just word salad for "we don't have any CAP room so we can't really spend money" and "we are unwilling to do any serious restructuring to create enough CAP space to re-sign our guys".

We are looking at 2017 all over again. The Cowboys are about to set themselves on course to waste the talented players they have on their roster - again. Poor Micah Parsons.

The one thing we will not here Jerry or his spawn say is they made a mistake overpaying guys like Lawrence and Zeke.

I haven't dove in completely, but this seems like a pretty solid draft for OL and DE's, with DT being fairly good too.

Why do I get the feeling Jerry and Stephen are going to mess this up with Cooper. I get it. Cooper makes too much money for his production. But who gave him that contract? I could understand letting Cooper go to get some CAP relief, which btw, the date to get under the CAP is March 16th!. But cutting Cooper and getting nothing for him would me a monumental mistake. I can see trading him and getting maybe a 2nd round pick, although after Jerry complaining about him I think his value is probably in the 3rd round now. Still, a 3rd round pick is better than nothing and the Cowboys get a say in where he goes. Cooper is not going to take a pay cut. The WFT supposedly offered him more than Dallas when he signed a couple of years ago. Cooper will get pretty close to what he got from Dallas. Dallas is not going to get a big save from Cooper unless they restructure his deal. If they cannot trade him for a reasonable pick, they should restructure his deal and keep him one more year while they work to acquire a replacement.

That makes the decision on what to do with him this season much easier

Unless they franchise tag him (unlikely IMO) then we are going to lose Schultz too, which is a substantial loss.

TE is going to be an area of focus for free agency and the draft for sure this year.
