Welcome to the DCU MrB!

If your Nick was MrE it would sound like "Mystery!""Window" for continued 8-8 instead of 4-12.

Well they did go 12-4 last year soooo...

And if they continue to ignore the future of the QB position we could be looking at another decade of Matt Cassell's, Weeden's, and Kellen Moore's. I for one do not want to ever see that again. Remember how life was after Aikman?

The thing you guys have to keep in mind is that even though Jerry is still the face of the franchise he's given (or had it taken away) control of the draft to Will McClay. That's the same guy that was responsible for drafting a center 2 rounds before anyone else thought he should have gone. That center is now a 2 time All Pro. If McClay thinks Wentz is the guy at #4 even though most think he's more of a 2nd rounder then I'm perfectly fine with him drafting Wentz at #4.

Total fluke.

We've been saying just exactly this for years here.

Purely happenstance. Wasn't planned at all.

Zach Martin? Byron Jones? Those were McClay picks too.

There was NO prior plan to draft any of these three guys. It's well documented. They took what came to them based on who was left on their board when their turn came Again: It is well documented snd confirmed these picks of these guys was not part of a plan or prior strategy.

It's also clear it is JERRUH making the final decisions, example is he caved on the Manziel pick and LET them make another choice instead, and still complains about it.

No plan? Where are you getting this stuff? Well documented? Where? So you're saying that the Cowboys were the only team at the draft without a draft board? I guess they just went to the draft and winged it huh?

There was NO plan to draft the kids we wound up with. Of course there is a draft board as I said and you didn't read and these kids were on it, but this idiot claim that those were the ones they planned to get all along is idiotic, and the documentation is news reports posted here of the fact. The guys we got weren't the ones we really wanted according to some strategy, they just happened to be left when our turn was up.

It's Jerry making the final decisions, not anyone else. But as he has admitted, he does allow them to talk him out of stuff like Manziel. Please tell me you're not the typical Homeristic fool who still thinks we're "building something" here. We're mediocre and outside of the first two picks in the last 3 drafts, we don't have shit.

Wait - we're ONE good draft away from the Super Bowl, right?

When you think about it the Dallas Cowboys have been incredibly lucky for most of its history in QBs. We had Eddie Lebaron to Don Meredith to Craig Morton to Roger to Danny. Almost an unbroken line of at the very worst good QBs and two HOF and two other Pro Bowl QBs. And we only had a couple of years from Danny to Troy.

Then came the Dark Years.

As Obi Wan Kenobi put it so well.....

and to be honest we did not suffer anywhere near as much as most teams have over the years looking for QBs. Our dark period only lasted 5 years. Look at the Browns= 20+ years and they are still looking for the successor to Bernie Kosar. OR the Raiders; took them 10 years to get Carr after Gannon.

But now we are looking at the same problem - Tony only has a couple of years left and we NEED to find his successor soon; we have a good young base as regards the O line and a fair amount of the D as well. Do not want them to go to waste as frankly all of Jason Wittens career and Demarcus's career and sadly probably all of Tony's career will end up.

I think Goff is worth our pick if Cleveland is still as stupid as normal with regards QB decisions. Wentz has too little tape and is too raw for a first as far as I am concerned; and Lynch does not deserve a top 10 pick.

Dude, do you even know how the draft works? No team goes into the draft with only 1 guy in mind. Every team has several guys in mind that could possibly be there when there pick comes up. In the 2014 draft for example the Cowboys wanted Ryan Shazier. When he went off the board they went to plan B which from everything I've read was between Martin, C.J. Mosley, and Johnny 8Ball, even Clinton-Dix was discussed. Their lead scout Will McClay (not Jerry) wanted Martin so that's who they went with.

Again, as I stated before in the Travis Frederick draft Jerry himself has said that McClay was the guy pushing for Frederick. He made such a case for him that they went ahead and chose him even though most teams had him going in the 2nd or 3rd round. Even Frederick himself said he was surprised he was picked in the 1st. McClay did his homework though and knew that Frederick would be a player. Now he's less than 5 years into his career and he's already a 2 time All Pro. And last year's draft was one of the best drafts this team has ever had. That's why he was promoted to Assistant Director of Player Personnel. And it's why he will likely be the future GM of this team when Jerry decides to step away (or dies).

You may not agree with it but the writing is on the wall. Jerry doesn't have as much control as he's had in the past. Stephen and McClay are running the football side of this team now.
