Swaim, although it appears both are in good shape. I suspect if Whitehead does ok Sat night he will be here. I think Swaim has already made team barring injury. Will Cowboys have more than one player with 10+ sacks?

Bob Sturm: Some observations on an otherwise meaningless Cowboys-49ers game

Teams trade for guys like Hanna every yr at the trade deadline. Its usually a late rd pick and it ensures they don't have to compete with anyone to get him, and he is still on his cheap rookie deal.

Would you trade for Matt Barkley?

I'm not opposed to us replacing him, just not sure who they'd get that would be an obvious upgrade.

Bob Sturm: Some observations on an otherwise meaningless Cowboys-49ers game

I watched it though, and he didn't look good. He did seem to play better in the 2nd half, but that was also against lesser players.

Bob Sturm: Some observations on an otherwise meaningless Cowboys-49ers game

He might make a decent #2 guy for somebody who needs depth. def isn't bad a 3rd option, but we have Swaim for 3rd TE now and have him locked up for several yrs under rookie deal.

Bob Sturm: Some observations on an otherwise meaningless Cowboys-49ers game

That's what was reported, he looks like he needs a yr in the weight program. He definitely has movement skills and great hands though.

Bob Sturm: Some observations on an otherwise meaningless Cowboys-49ers game

Have to watch 2nd half, but 1st half observations: 1) Good to see Free back out there. You can tell he's a tad rusty, but he's a massive improvement over Weems 2) Weems had a terrible first half, they have to be genuinely concerned at this point about the backup swing T position. Its not hard...

WATCH: Cowboys DE Randy Gregory picks up 2nd sack of preseason

Only watched first half so far, but Gregory tore it up. Has one sack, nearly had one or two others and drew two holding penalties. I know its only preseason, but he clearly looks like an impact player. If he stays clean and continues to work hard, he has the looks of a probowl caliber pass...

Anyone else see a possible 2-3 or even a 1-4 start to the 2015 season?

still don't see a losing start to season
  19. dbair1967

It's early, but do you see any surprise cuts?

I've only seen the first half of the SF game so far, but Weems has not improved any, in fact he looked worse. Bernadeau's shotgun snaps are also a major concern. His blocking is fine at G and C, but his snaps at C are definitely subpar.

Scandrick blows out ACL/MCL, gone for year

Tough loss, solid player but he has never been a big playmaker. If the pass rush is as improved as we hope, they can survice losing Scandrick
