Shutdown Countdown: How bad might it get for the Dallas Cowboys?

"You are what you are." - Bill Parcells.

Defensive? The Cowboys Used To Be

    Yup. It's the overall culture.

Guarded: Leary And Bernadeau On 'The Threat'

Sounds like a identity crisis. We don't like running but we for some reason need three first round picks in the line. I agree they tend to abandon the run totally and at odd times. We can only guess the reason(s). But the fact is it happens time and time again we need a yard, try to run for it...

Guarded: Leary And Bernadeau On 'The Threat'

Is it that we won't run or is it the can't run that leads to the won't run? With three #1 picks in the frikkin line we should be able to run at will.

Defensive? The Cowboys Used To Be

It was all about the attack mentality, playing the game on the opponents side of the line. "Upfield Pressure" he called it. Disruption of the offense. And conditioning too, being able to give guys breathers using the rotation.

Defensive? The Cowboys Used To Be

Jimmy's defenses have been long overlooked and not given the credit they are due.

Guarded: Leary And Bernadeau On 'The Threat'

I always have to snicker when I remember Emmitt Smith had exactly ZERO first round draftees as O-Linemen. And now we have three and can't run the damn ball.

I stopped going to the games or buying the swag. It helps alot.

Shutdown Countdown: How bad might it get for the Dallas Cowboys?

Sure looks that way. Dallas playing exactly .500 ball since 1997.

Shutdown Countdown: How bad might it get for the Dallas Cowboys?

You make some good points. In this age of parity where most all teams are mediocre and there are very few elite ones, a Dallas could jump up out of nowhere and have a 13-3 season like Parcells' first year was.

I'm sure that's a misprint. I am sure the author means "five TD catches."

I'm excited about #10, Dustin Vaughan.

I'm even happier now! I don't take having to eat crow personally but methinks you probably do. We shall see. I don't mind being talked down out of the crazy tree, it happens about as often as staying up there and falling out eventually.

I'm excited about #10, Dustin Vaughan.

All I really have to do though is remember how dumb it was thinking Null could make it in the NFL, especially when he didn't have the tools Vaughan has. Homer Hyperbole at its best!

I'm excited about #10, Dustin Vaughan.

Life would really suck if we couldn't go out on a limb now and then, right?

I'm excited about #10, Dustin Vaughan.

It might have been 1-A or even Div 2.

LOL Soooo upset. It's fun to see.

I'm excited about #10, Dustin Vaughan.

And that might be his biggest disadvantage. It WAS presumptuous of me to say Vaughan is the next Dallas QB, for the reason you and a couple others have stated. So, regrettably and since it will make NoDak happy, I take it back and say, "probably not."

I'm excited about #10, Dustin Vaughan.

And with this head coach and QB coach, do we know if that cut when it comes is wise? Danny Amendola comes immediately to mind for some reason, along with a bunch of other guys who somehow couldn't crack the roster in Dallas but went on to other teams and better success with them than Dallas has...

I'm excited about #10, Dustin Vaughan.

It was small school guys you automatically dismiss, not every UDFA. My only actual hope is Vaughan earns and gets a spot on the final roster at some point. Might have to sit on the practice squad a season or two. I had this same idea for another former WT QB, Keith Null. I thought he was the...
