It's the dog days of the off season and like the rest of you I am bored so.....

LOL Read this thread - most people posting agree that it is REASONABLE to say it was a bad pass. Because it was. It is REASONABLE to say it's a bad pass. It is UNREASONABLE to say stupid shit like "probably the easiest TD pass a player could possibly have." End of debate.

Actually interceptions when the pass was targeted to t-willy are rare in the extreme. Passes targeted to Dez however, that's the top pick percentage. ON TOP OF the drops.

My apathy is at an all-time high

We can't be anywhere close to sure of that no matter the 2018 result. It's nice wishful thinking though.

Technically, it isn't. It only LOOKS blue, to our eye. And there's a scientific reason for that. But here's the thing: For 99 percent of people, it's perfectly reasonable to say that's a bad pass. For most of them and considering the circumstances of the game and who was doing the throwing, it...

"Gave up" on him, after how many mediocre years? The irony is thick.

Knee level, as I said. Way behind him, hell yes. He is running full-out and had to suddenly stop and fall back. The only way you feel you "win" arguments is when you just flat-out LIE about what was said. Not even close to "easiest" reception. Do you even read the shit you type? Actually it was...

You can't see Smith checking up and reaching down and behind for a pass that should have been leading him? IT'S A BAD PASS, DUMBASS!

In the article I linked, he said he rushed the pass and should have waited a tad for Smith to finish the route. And that's exactly what it looked like too.

I definitely agree with this. dbair simply can't admit what Roger and most intelligent people know, it was a BAD PASS. This does not mean Smith couldn't have or shouldn't have caught it. It's his JOB to catch the fucking ball.

Yeah I was all of 16 and remember every snap. Don't need any VCRs. I also remember thinking I was seeing the beginning of the end of the era of Cowboys domination for a good long time. The defending champs couldn't repeat.

Looking at and seeing a RARE horrible pass by the Hall of Famer Staubach.

He actually blamed Landry, and even called a timeout to discuss the play he was calling, they'd never ran it in any other situation other than goal line, and Roger thought it was a bad call. Landry told him "just run the play." If only Roger had thrown accurately, Smith would have caught it...

Especially if you're billed as a "Doomsday" defense.

I can't help it if you want to dispute Roger Staubach, and can't tell a horrid pass when you see one. They'd practiced that a gazillion times and a gazillion times the pass was perfect, leading Jackie with a shoulder-high pass instead of coming in knee-high and way behind him. He wasn't ready...

Smith didn't lose that game for us any more than Randy White did by fielding that poor kickoff and trying to return it with his hand and arm in a cast, or any more than our secondary did getting burned repeatedly. Blaming Smith is silly, the pass was terrible even by Staubach's admission.

It’s time to move on from Dez

I think his opinion of it is that it's a necessary evil, something you only really NEED to do when it's 4th and short. It's not something he believes is essential to winning football.
