It felt like Garrett just couldn't/wouldn't get him off the field and use him the way he should be used at his age. I mean, we're talking about a staff that takes it's key players out in key situations in the most important game of the season.
Teams can turn things around very quickly in today's NFL. And I don't know why all the hate with Witten. Every team can use veteran leadership and the that's he'd bring, as well as a good blocking TE. It wouldn't be a bad move and he wouldn't be used in NY the way he was used here.
Thanks for posting TD. Great interview and it was interesting to hear about his coaching tree that extended beyond Norv and Dave Wanstadt. Jimmy was great at evaluating players, as well as quality coaches. It's really a shame....no telling how many SB's we could have won had he stayed on.
If Dak doesn't take the team to playoff run next year, I'd bet they draft a QB. Heck, I'd bet they'll draft a QB this year that McCarthy can groom even as a back-up.
I want Dak to succeed so lets hope a new coach can help him improve.
Not surprising and this is why I like McCarthy. How many times have we seen a QB struggle in a new scheme? I've said it 100 times. Next year is all about Dak. I'm certain the offense will have some wrinkles but Dak is going to be given every chance to succeed.
This is also eerily similar to...
I assume you're talking to me. Two things: I've been saying the exact same thing regarding Dak's evaluation by McCarthy so I don't know what you're bitching about.
And second, what's "ovarian" mean?
I can agree with a lot of this. But Dak is pricing himself out of Dallas and, while you and some others may not see it (yet), it's a blessing in disguise.
Dak wants to be the highest paid QB in the NFL. Not happening. I'm liking the way this thing is playing out. No need to sign him long...
So in our discussion, are you giving me your opinion or Jerry's? It sounded like you were giving me your opinion since you used the word "I" in your post. Or do you not have an independent thought outside of what Jerry tells you to think?
Bottom line is that Dak isn't signed and he's not...
Don't agree. What if we go 9 and 7 or 8 and 8? Is that shitting the bed? KC went 12 and 4 with Smith and went out and drafted a QB. I think when you identify your ceiling with a QB and that ceiling is an occasional playoff win, you don't give him top QB money.
Would you trade 2 #1's for Mahomes after his rookie deal? How about Rodgers? Brady? Luck? Brees? That fact that you don't think Dak is worth 2 #1's is very telling what your opinion of him is.
I don't agree with that. Gallup is a good #2 but he scares no one as a #1.
And just to add...it your point was true, we woudn't have needed to burn a 1st round pick to get a #1 WR if we thought Gallup fit that bill.
There are no less than 7/8 starters on that list, maybe more depending on injuries or play, out of 22. Close to half of your starting team. But you're right, they'd probably be back-ups on other teams.
I'm not doing that at all. I've said repeatedly that Dak will be out of excuses and the reason McCarthy was brought here was to evaluate Dak.
What I don't buy is this mindset that McCarthy has to deliver quickly (2/3 years) or he's some failure. I won't say that until I know the team has a...
