It's not a "claim" it's his modus operandi. "Keep it simple stupid" is his core value. He takes away what you do best and schools his players in the art. Keeps sound fundemental football at the top of everything he does or says. No gimmicks no gadgets and no nonsense.

We are able to mash 'em in short yardage plays. We push them back consistently in those situations. The actual reason the run game isn't effective is because still, we are primarily running up the gut into 9 and 10 man boxes on 1st and 10. We don't know how to levarage the legitimate fear DCs...
