They were able to get really good, legit players and had a number of outstanding coaches. I think it might have a better chance of success now, because when they tried this back in the early/mid 80's the NFL was invincible. It's not that way anymore.

Irving is a RFA after this season, they may not try to tie him long term after this year but they are not going to let him go. Lawrence is going to get the franchise tag for 2018 I believe.
