When you use the word "discrimination" in a discussion about race or minorities, naturally I'm going to assume you mean discriminatory in a legal or negative sense.

That's a very literal interpretation. A more common definition is punishing or penalizing someone unfairly in some way. That certainly doesn't apply to Snyder's Redskins.

I don't think that appropriating a name or hurting people's feelings is tantamount to "discrimination" any more than Broadway's "The Book of Mormon."
