    2017 Week Five NFL Thread

That penalty they just called was no worse a play than the one called against Green Bay in the 1st quarter, yet the one on GB was a bad call and the one against Dallas was a good call?! Will somebody please shut Aikman the hell up?

Melvin Gordon is really good. On a good team he could be outstanding.

CBS here has Rivers vs. Eli, I'm sure Cassell and Cutler can't be too much worse than that. It's a 1 point game, and Panthers/Lions at a 17 point difference is 10 times better.

    Who you got? Week 5

If our defense wasn't our defense I could at least pretend to be optimistic. But they are, and between that and forgetting that last week I have to say Green Bay.

Captains to pick teams for NBA All-Star Game after format tweak

Pleasure to know there's another Celtics fan in the ranks icup. Between Kyrie, Hayward and Horford, 2 is a certainty, though whether it's by vote, naming or injury replacement I wouldn't rule out 3. I'm not certain it'll do anything long term, but at least for the first year or two it should...

I'm not sure what I just watched; did New England's defense just make Winston look that bad or did he make them look that good?

Captains to pick teams for NBA All-Star Game after format tweak

I like it. The game itself had, at least to me, become an afterthought to the rest of the weekend. It needed a new concept to it, a hook to make it interesting again, as do all sports all-star games from time to time. Whether this will be good or not and have staying power is undetermined...

Captains to pick teams for NBA All-Star Game after format tweak

Brian Windhorst ESPN Senior Writer The NBA All-Star Game is switching formats this season, as two captains will select the teams without regard to which conferences the players play in, the league announced Tuesday. The players who win the fan vote from each conference will be the captains...

You had a feeling when it happened too, the dreaded non-contact injury. Shame for him, the kid's looked damn good so far. Not a bad part of his game that I've seen.

Ian Rapoport‏ @RapSheet The #Vikings initial diagnosis for Dalvin Cook is a nearly complete ACL tear, per @TomPelissero and me. He's hopeful the MRI shows otherwise

It was mostly the kind of game I figured it'd be, just that the Rams came out of it smelling a lot better than Dallas did. If something doesn't drastically change this week next week's going to be a horror show worthy of Halloween month...

    Who you got? Week 4

Gurley is looking every bit as good as his rookie year, except better because he's catching passes too. Goff has done a 180 and then some. Watkins and Woods are off to good starts, and Cooper Kupp is for real. On the other hand, their defense isn't quite there yet. They have their moments...
