Matt Mosley: "If Cowboys Can Trade Down, They Will; ‘Not There’ On Tyron Smith"

I hope they do trade down. I don't see Smith as being "a lock" for a guy who's worth the #9 spot in the first round.

Best Player Available? Absolutely Not At #9

    He makes a great point.

Parcells kicks himself for drafting Pat White, picking Long over Ryan

A good QB can make an OK offensive line look much better, i.e. Marino, Peyton, Romo... Heck look no further than the QB in Green Bay or the guy in Pittsburgh.

New idea for Cowboys at No. 9

Certainly not in the first round. Maybe not in round 2 either. If there isn't good value in the position at the Cowboy's pick in the 3rd round, then yeah the only way to fix the position for one season to go with a couple vets.

New idea for Cowboys at No. 9

Offensive line. Defensive line. Safety. Fix'em.

Stage Set For 'Boys To Take OT

If the Cowboys stay at #9, then Smith would be my choice. If they trade down, then Sherrod would be it. Mel has Smith rated first at 9.3 Castonzo, Solder, Carimi and Sherrod are next and are all rated at 9.1 Ourlads has Smith first, then Solder, Castonzo, Carimi and Sherrod.

Sources: Dallas Cowboys to Trade Up to Take LSU’s Patrick Peterson

That rumor has passed by a couple of forums. Some folks that are usually level-headed have given the rumor more credence than what many rumors get (or deserve). That being said, I wouldn't like that rumor to become reality, but from all indications Peterson does seem to be an elite talent...

    Sensabaugh’s Versatility Has Big Value

There's certainly some truth there about other teams catching up to Wade's defensive schemes, but to me much of it seemed to be out & out laziness in developing a defensive game plan– including blitz packages. The only blitzes this defense seemed to run was rushing one or both of the inside...

    Sensabaugh’s Versatility Has Big Value

Sensi played well two out of the last three seasons, and statistically he wasn't as bad last year as many think. Replace Ball with even an average safety and the pass defense will improve– a lot.

PFT: Tyron Smith-to-Cowboys chatter continues to pick up

If the original DCC board was still up, you could go back and read SBK's posts concerning that game, and he clearly stated exactly what you just said, "That the defense wouldn't have held". I thought the same. The Seahawks would have marched down the field and kicked the FG.

PFT: Tyron Smith-to-Cowboys chatter continues to pick up

That's the one right there. That was the proof to me that the fire had gone out of Duane Parcell's coaching career.

PFT: Tyron Smith-to-Cowboys chatter continues to pick up

Yeah, 17 for 29 is a "train-wreck". It was Romo that led this team to the playoffs, there isn't one person out there who thinks that Bledsoe could have done the same. In the Seattle game, the offense averaged two yards less per pass attempt than it had for the season under Romo's watch. The...

PFT: Tyron Smith-to-Cowboys chatter continues to pick up

Bill's teams (either one that he's either coached or served in the front office on) haven't won a playoff game since 1998.

PFT: Tyron Smith-to-Cowboys chatter continues to pick up

To not allow your QB, who was 5th in the NFL in passer rating (that 5th from the top) and not allow him to attack a secondary that started Pete Hunter... Well there's a word for that... And "genius" ain't it.

PFT: Tyron Smith-to-Cowboys chatter continues to pick up

I think Bill is a very effective team builder, i.e. someone working in the front office. I think his abilities as a coach eroded quite a bit over his tenure with the Cowboys. I still wince when I think how bad the game plan was against the Seahawks for that playoff game.
