That's true ... most high picks that washed out will end up washing out again. But if 10% of these guys defy the odds and end up contributing, maybe it is still worth it -- so long as next to nothing has been invested and the distraction factor is minimized.

Factoid: Williams was cut after Mendenhall retired. (Clearly the Cardinals weren't counting on Williams becoming a contributor.) I am looking forward to seeing Williams play this preseason. I heard Steve Dennis go on about how Williams is a high quality power back, so I'm curious.

I agree. Jerry's timing sucks. IMO, the OL should have been upgraded years ago. But on the brighter side, maybe Frederick & Co. will pave the way for Romo's successor's success.

It occurs to me that Jerry/Garrett are now doing what I wanted the team to do about 4-5 years ago. Back then I believed that even though both sides of the ball were suspect, it would be better to concentrate on building the offense first (esp,. a major rebuild of the OL using premium parts)...

After 3 consecutive 8-8 seasons, it is sort of stupid to predict that the Cowboys will be extremely good or extremely bad this year. If Garrett has proven nothing else, he's certainly shown that he knows how to keep a bus rolling in the middle lane.
