    Cowboys and free agency

He's an 8M dead cap hit pre June, what I want to know is why wait for June 2nd? I realize they'll be a 4M dead cap post June 1st, but they currently don't need the extra 4M. Right now he is 8M dead cap this year and 4M dead cap next year. Cut him June 2nd and all we're doing is reversing...

It’s time to move on from Dez

Snap Rates: Shotgun v Under Center (OFF) Dallas is pretty lopsided. I know I know, other teams are as well.

That's fine. It's better to be in shotgun 100% of the time than come out of it every time you're going to run. Some teams don't have a problem running draw plays out of shotgun, but we know Zeke is better at hitting the line with speed. I can call a run/pass 9 out of 10 times with the Cowboys...

    Cowboys and free agency

No doubt this is the year to move Thomas if they're going to move him. But i'd think they'd look elsewhere first before downgrading to Jones. The one thing I don't know is how bad he wants to come to Dallas.

It’s time to move on from Dez

They could have played better than any two offensive lineman in NFL history and unfortunately it wouldn't have mattered. The offensive line is a unit. Which leads me to another question. Most of Dak's pass plays come out of shotgun. Not at all strange for the NFL, but at the same time most...

    Cowboys and free agency

Oh I agree. A 1st is out of the question. But keep in mind they'll want something reasonable in return. I think we'd have to change it up to a 3rd and 2nd along with Byron. Remember, Byron is expendable at that point. Try to look at it from Seattle's POV. Would you take two 3rd's and...

It’s time to move on from Dez

What do people seriously expect them to say right now? Yeah, we're seriously considering dumping Dez? Not a chance. There are two ways to do this, a pay cut or a restructure. The latter would be an epic mistake. The former would probably not be acceptable to Dez. Dez can test the market...

It’s time to move on from Dez

Brutal, I know. What do you expect me to say about that? When you're having a bad year, and you're barely catching any passes, what do you expect to happen? Who had a good year?

It’s time to move on from Dez

I'm not exactly a Dez defender, but everyone struggled last year, why would we expect Dez to be different? It looked like the Cowboys weren't ready to start most games, then either caught up or faded. I think the coaching staff wet the bed. I'm hoping we don't see a repeat of the 2010 season...

DMN: Why the Cowboys need to start wheeling and dealing right now

I think '94 was the first year of the cap. But I'm not sure how strict they were with enforcement. Either way, all you needed to know about Jerry happened during the Emmitt Smith hold out. It's not like he would have tried to keep up. Then couple that with getting rid of Jimmy, that's all folks.

DMN: Why the Cowboys need to start wheeling and dealing right now

All this proves is that wins and losses does not always determine success in business. You can fail 9 out of 10 times in business ventures, but that one hit can make you a success.

DMN: Why the Cowboys need to start wheeling and dealing right now

People seem to forget that these guys don't have jobs like most people. Snow isn't going to be plowed remotely, yet, so I have to do it. The type of jobs these guys have need not be at a fixed location.

    Cowboys and free agency

I agree with you. But I don't have control over what Jerry does. I'm just telling you what he could do. A restructured 3 year contract with a base salary of 500k and a 15M signing bonus prorated would only have a 5.5M cap hit and be enough to get us under the cap. It's simple math. But I...

    Cowboys and free agency

Easy. restructure his contract and pay him league minimum and the rest in the form of bonus money prorated over 3-4 years. Insane, I know. We all can live without him, but he's still solid. We know what we're getting. Unless you think we can get a better LB in the 2nd round. Either way, I...

    Cowboys and free agency

What is Kony Ealy's contract? It's still not listed. I'm waiting to see the dance they do in order to get under the cap by the start of the season. The Cowboys should just say fuck it and release Dez on June 2nd like Doomsday said and get extra cap space for this year. Then draft a WR...

    Cowboys and free agency

I don't know how we're picking up anyone at this point. The Cowboys are 5.2M over the cap with projected draft picks without Ealy. I don't see how they get under the cap without trading, releasing, or restructuring a certain someone's contract. Hint, he's a WR.

It’s time to move on from Dez

Larry Allen wouldn't be human in today's game. I think what a lot of people are noticing is the amount of quality players in the NFL as opposed to what it used to be, not necessarily bigger, faster, stronger, just a lot more of them. This will coincide with money. The more you're getting...

It’s time to move on from Dez

When I said "talent wise" I did not mean individual talent, I meant relative to their era. You had stacked defenses back then where you rarely, if ever, see that now. Even so, I believe we peaked as athletes back in the early 90s. It has to at some point. It was pretty obvious from the 70s...

It’s time to move on from Dez

I don't doubt anything you've said. The rules heavily favor the passing game. But despite those rules if you put a good defense on the field ('13 Seahawks) they can shut down one of the best passing teams the NFL has ever seen. This has been repeated over and over again throughout NFL's...

It’s time to move on from Dez

"His era". What does that even mean? That due to the salary cap most teams defenses can't afford to field a good defense? Because that's what it is. It's not so much the rules, it's the fact the defensive talent is spread out. Back during the regular season in 1990 the Giants and 49ers...
