    Wanna get depressed?

The off-seasons have been longer lately. The 2010 season -- it more or less ended sometime in October, didn't it? The 2011 season ended before the playoffs began. During off-seasons past, I used to get excited and hopeful about the upcoming season. I don't think it will happen at all this...

Moving to left tackle 'is not very complicated' for Cowboys' Tyron Smith

Free had a tough year last year. And the tackles flipped sides. How good would Free had to have been last year for the tackles not to have flip sides? My guess is that if Free had replicated 2010 in 2011, the flip wouldn't have happened this off season. We'll never know, though.

Breer: Sense of entitlement changes which players Cowboys pursue

I agree about 2003. The T.O. signing was problematic too. Jerry has shown much poor judgement over the years. To the extent that Jerry is now more willing to defer to others, the team is probably better off. He'll still run his mouth from time to time. Given how difficult he is to...

Breer: Sense of entitlement changes which players Cowboys pursue

Something I think about -- Jerry is about to turn 70. People change as they age. What chafed Jerry several years ago (e.g., sharing control of day-to-day operations) may not be a problem to him today. Sure, Jerry is clearly still in the room and clearly has the final say so, but I do think...

Breer: Sense of entitlement changes which players Cowboys pursue

I think your appraisal is well stated and on the mark as to what has happened. But does anyone have the sense that things may have changed a bit recently? To me, it is entirely possible that Garrett is, in fact, preaching for the rkg and that the organization is, in fact, listening. If...

You are exactly right. If a change has occurred, it'd have begun no earlier than the 2011 draft.

Breer: Sense of entitlement changes which players Cowboys pursue

I do think it is possible that the team (perhaps Garrett) is now placing more emphasis on acquiring non-knuckle heads. Maybe it will pay off. If the idea is to build a roster that more closely resembles the Patriots' ... that may not be a bad thing. Honestly, I did like the things that...

Cowboys Player Profile Series: C Phil Costa

Why in the heck would you guess that? You whiffed on that one. I was ready for Columbo to be let go (he was a warrior, but his body couldn't do it any more). I was a bit surprised and mildly encouraged when they let Davis go, only to be much more surprised, in a negative way, when the...

"they made a risky move" Geeze, that's serious sugar coating. How about: "they made a boneheaded error" "they made a tragic mistake" "they revealed their ignorance" "they showed an utter lack of judgement" "they hit themselves in the crotch" "they screwed the pooch" What else?

Lawrence Vickers had fire ants in his crotch

Good point. The first thing that came to my mind was that Vickers was the victim of a prank (the insect version of IcyHot in the jock), but that can't be right -- surely he'd have noticed ants in his jock (or pants) while putting them on.
