Sherrington: Why I have 'serious doubts' about Cowboys' Rob Ryan

This is Ryan's put-up-or-shut-up season. He has more than ample talent and many of the players have had a year in his system. I like his creativity. There is a boom-or-bust quality to his system. When he guesses wrong with his call, his team is vulnerable to getting gouged. When he guesses...

    Wednesday's was a memorable game

One of the gratifying aspects of being a serious fan of the Cowboys is that, over time, one accumulates a large number of memories. Some good, some bad, and most of which can be evoked by only a short phrase or a few words: "Emmitt's shoulder game," "No Danny, no," "Harvey's funeral wreath,"...

Per broaddus, costa may have disc problem and IR is possible.

If Cook made the line calls in addition to everything else, this is an even more remarkable story.

    Saints' Bounty Players' Suspensions Overturned

Yeah. I think the panel's reaction clearly points out Goodell's sheer arrogance: Goodell suspended players without feeling a need to explain why. That's a basic, fundamental error.

So who made the line calls Wednesday night? One of the guards?

    Cowboys-Giants stuff

The stage is set for multiple takeaways by the Dallas defense.

    Saints' Bounty Players' Suspensions Overturned

Sounds like the suspensions were put on hold, but not overturned. Nice to see Goodell getting poked in the eye. He's gotten too big for his own pantaloons.

Dez Bryant Close To Plea Bargain In Family Violence Case

Isn't Dez now constantly in the company of people who are paid to keep him out of trouble?

    Cowboys-Giants stuff

When frequent substitution packages become popular in the NFL, television sportscasters stopped trying to keep track of who was and was not in the game. Detail was lost.

Without adding a new player, the contingency plan could be to move Bernadeau to C and plug Dockery in at G (if Cook got hurt). Anyway, it'll be interesting to see if Bernadeau gets some snaps at Center, during practice, before the Seattle game.

    2012 Season Game Threads Mega-Merge

Sorry for the late bump to this thread, but I wanted to echo this observation. The game did seem more watchable. IMO, the striking refs have adopted too large of a role. Better to let the players play. I had a hunch that the replacement refs were going to keep a lower profile. Here's hoping...

Fisher: Witten helping Cowboys change the culture

I admire and respect Witten. When will we begin to notice diminishing skills? Do you cut down on his snaps after you see it? Those are the kinds of questions we'll likely encounter in the next few seasons.

Is Kevin Ogletree the Next Big Superstar in the NFL? Not Likely

He has to be reliable, consistent, and catch catchable balls. If he does that, he'll get plenty of recognition and respect. Obviously he'll never be confused with Megatron.

What They Should Be Thinking Today: Dallas Cowboys

Ogletree is the right man for the #3 job if he continues to catch the ball on a consistent basis. That's the bottom line. If he resumes the kind of drops that he had in preseason, you have to consider trying someone else.

Murray Could Be the Dallas Cowboys' Difference Maker This Year

Anything that can take some of the pressure off of Romo is a good thing. Not only in terms of slowing the pass rush, but also having someone who can shoulder some of the burden ... so that Romo doesn't have to carry the team entirely by himself. In the past, Romo has had to play at a near...

BTB: Cowboys vs Giants, 7 observations

Re: #1 -- No doubt. There were times that Eli had time to throw, but no one was open. Seems like a long while ago (several seasons) since the Dallas defensive backfield was capable of such coverage.

    Watkins: Stop Up, Stock Down

I'd include Carter in the stock up category. He didn't have a spectacular game, but his athleticism was obvious. Clearly an upgrade. For an inexperienced starter, he has some presence.
