Well played Amigo.

I'll be gathering info for the all-in however.

We can all agree that Lance has the physical talent we often see with top notch QB's and I like seeing a guy like that on our roster even as a developmental player.

And if you send me more Lance highlights, I've got more of Rush from his college years. It'll be a standoff.....

Just stop with this nonsense dude.

Akili Smith was 5-13 as a starter, had a CAREER completion % of 46.6% and threw 13 picks vs 5 tds, and had a CAREER yds per attempt of 4.8 yds.

Smith is arguably one of the worst players in NFL history and may very well be considering where he was drafted.

He and Lance are nothing alike from a football perspective.
It is simply an interesting video.

You're right, Trey Lance's career competition percentage is a whopping 54.9 (keep in mind who the Niners have at WR and on the OL. A sweet situation for any QB), so they are nowhere near the same,

In 2 games in 2022, Lance's completion percentage was 48.4 percent.

But that was only on 31 attempts (194 yards total). I'm sure if he had played more his percentage would have improved.....or maybe not as NFL defenses got a better read on him.

Does he have the physical tools for a QB or is he an athlete? I believe players can improve, but it's hard to improve if you can't get on the field. Lance is going to have to make every single rep count so he can at least earn time in pre-season with the 2s.

One advantage that Rush has is that he is known to process very quickly. He is a very smart guy. I'm not saying that Lance is dumb. I'm saying that one of Rush's strengths is that he can process fast. That means he can throw with anticipation. It also means he can play (at least okay) without having a lot of reps.

Personally, that's a trait I want my backup to have if he doesn't already have a few years of NFL starting experience.

I find this a little interesting, putting this into the draft forum too but while it's not odd that Mike McCarthy is there (he has attended a few prodays in person this yr and prior yrs), it's a little curious that under "GM" it lists "Cowboys". It doesn't say who, so it could be Will McClay, or it could be the Jones'. I don't know how many prodays McClay has attended in person (I honestly can't recall any) but I definitely don't recall ever seeing the Jones attend school prodays before.

Michigan has a ton of prospects this yr (I think a record number of players were at the combine) but who would be important enough to see in person that either McClay or the Jones' felt compelled to go see them?

Could it be the QB JJ McCarthy? Now someone might respond "yeah but they didnt attend for Caleb Williams, Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels", but that could be because they have no chance whatsoever at those guys. McCarthy's landing spot is predicted to be anywhere from top-10 down into the 20's.

As you say, small sample size. But Smith was a career under 60% comp % in college as well. Lance started only one full yr, but completed 67% of his throws with 28 tds and 0 (yes ZERO) interceptions. And their school while smaller in size/comp threw the ball downfield a lot. He played for an outstanding coach and also won the FCS national championship that yr.

What’s going on with Lael Collin’s?

I just remembered that we signed him right before the playoffs last year. Is he still on the team? Or was he just a playoff rental (which we ended up not even needing)

All of us have been pretty much perplexed by the Cowboys ridiculous offseason so far. Would it really have been all that hard for Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dumb to just come out and say something like this?

When I say physical tools I mean size and arms strength. We don't knwo what Lance has between the ears or if he has "it." If Shanahan couldn't make a QB out of Lance, I doubt we will but if you factor in his age and lack of playing experience, we're taking a flyer for a 4th round pick on a guy that has the physical tools to succeed.

It's why I'm not a fan of Purdy. He's just to physically challenged to ever be a true franchise QB; he lacks the arm talent. And same with Rush. He may win you some games but he's just doesn't have the arm talent, no matter how smart he is. We should keep looking.

JJ's not dropping to the 20's or anywhere near it. This is a QB league and some team will take a shot. I can't see him getting past the Broncos at 12.

Me either, but weirder things have happened.

We had Aaron Rodgers fall in our lap in 2005 and Parcells took Marcus Spears instead.

Imagine a draft where we'd have gotten DeMarcus Ware AND Aaron Rodgers.

I actually think Steele at G might still happen.

They cant have him on the edge being a human turnstile again like most of last year. But they cant simply let somebody beat him out and bench or release him either because of the dumbshit contract Jones gave him. Depending on who they draft, they could potentially have a true stud RT be our top pick and rather than experimenting with them becoming a LT year one, they could put Tyler S back at LT, let Steele slide inside to G and have the rookie play RT.

Take it FWIW, but Michael Gehlken was on NFL Radio yesterday and said he believes the Cowboys were going to sign multiple free agents this week.

Also said he still thinks the big 3 will all sign contract extensions and at least 2 of them would be done by summer.

He's usually pretty tuned into the Cowboys stuff so maybe singing some bargain bin free agents is actually going to happen this week.
