This was the dream when I was kid. Wanted to be a pilot in the Navy.

I remember my Dad taking me to Dobbins AFB and some other places and we'd watch the takeoffs and various shows. Really cool stuff.

Unfortunately I was blind as a bat and at the time corrected vision wasn't allowed for pilots (not sure if that's changed)

You might enjoy flightradar24.com on your smartphone. Tracks every aircraft and balloon within a 250 mile radius of you by default but you can pinch in or out as you like. You can go anywhere in the world with it using the search feature. Wanna monitor a war zone? No problem. Wanna track the aircraft doing the stadium flybys? Easy. Hear a plane flying over and wanna know who/what it is? Have at it.
