This.

And not insisting Jones fire Red Headed Boob and get a real coaching staff in there after it was obvious Clapper wasn't the guy.

All this "regret" talk above is BS. He didn't care THAT much about winning and even said so with dumbass remarks like "well if this is the worst thing that happens to me.....". He was perfectly fine being the Big Man on Campus/Celebrity who everybody liked hanging out with, he liked banging famous hot chicks, playing golf and making loads of money. He also didnt take physical fitness serious and it showed in how his body broke down on him so soon (and that body by Bud Light physique he had most seasons)

I've always said, he did very well for himself.

He definitely did. Relatively unknown UDFA turns into longtime NFL starting QB. And there were times he was obviously very good.

But he really wasn't much of a leader and ultimately he never had any postseason success either.

40 years ago today. The Cowboys take on the reigning Superb Owl Champ Bears in a preseason game at the old Wembley Stadium...

Bears won 17-6 with William 'The Refridgerator' Perry scoring a TD. The Cowboys wouldn't switch to the bigger/thicker jersey numbers until the regular season opener.

Of course, we'd lose to them in the reg season a month or so later. Roger, for all his greatness, could only beat them in the pre-season. Remove him from the ROH.

We couldn't beat the Stealers in the 70's and couldn't beat the Whiners in the 80's (save the 1980 season when we took them to the woodshed. I think we set a team record for forcing 10 turnovers that day)

It was super frustrating for sure.

I just checked and we actually did beat the Stealers in 1972, with Craig Morton.

Looks like he played awful but we won anyway. Bradshaw was also terrible it looks like.

But we lost to them in two super bowls, lost to them in 1977 with arguably our best team ever and then lost to them again in 1979. We'd lose to them again to open the 1982 season on MNF (strike season)

We'd finally end the curse in 1985, beating them at home.
