Of course! The original income tax was a small tax imposed on only the richest Americans. Within 30 years the income tax rate hit 94% and almost every wager earner was paying something. This is how they do it. It is the frog in the pot scenario every time. The tax system today is so dishonest, and punitive, and yet very few people care enough to do anything about it. If we went from no tax to where we are today all at once, people would scream bloody murder and throw out all of congress. But do it slowly and gradually and no one will get upset.

Back in the 1980s- 1990s I was working on the West Side of Manhattan. My commute forced me to walk by Penn Station every day to get to/from the Path train station. At the time Mayor Dinkins was been mayor. He was a totally incompetent liberal who only seemed to care about commercial air traffic flying over the tennis tournaments. No joke. In any case, the city fell apart - literally. The smell was horrific. There was human excrement littering the sidewalks and crime was a constant. One day I walked past what appeared to be a dead body lying in a planter. Of course there were no plants in the planter. They died. The guy who appeared dead had shit stained pants with blood on his shirt and pants as well. It was one of the most disgusting sights I had ever seen in NYC. But the amazing thing was no one did anything. They just walked by like this was just another day in the city. Even the cops drove by without stopping. The decaying of NYC due to liberal incompetence was complete. But then Giuliani came along and said, NY is an expensive place to live and people deserve something better than what the city had become. He won. He cleaned up the streets in a year.

AOC is absolutely the dumbest person ever to be elected to congress. But she has a college degree folks, and apparently got pretty good grades too. Then again, with her college degree the best should could do it bar tend. It seems her stupidity was too obvious in job interviews for her to get a job with substance. I guess that made her a perfect candidate for congress. What an embarrassment to our country.

She be kicked out of congress for such an ignorant statement. Many of the founding fathers were actually very wealthy for their time. I would also note upon victory and the creation of our constitutional government, the income tax was not included. In fact, a tax on income was unconstitutional.
We should not tolerate this kind of ignorance in our government. It sets a low bar for our children.
No one knows everything. But smart people do not lecture the rest of us about things they do not know. AOC seems to have no concern about talking about things she knows nothing about. This is the key evidence that she is not just ignorant, or uneducated, she is also stupid with an inflated opinion of herself. What a horrible person.
