Yes, but that's not really a good argument. Socialists merely argue that these services are run by government so why not other services too? Government runs the schools for example. So why not health care? Of course one answer is even though the government runs the school system you can still send you kid to private schools. Their healthcare plans eliminate private insurance. Why? Because they don't want rich people buying expensive private insurance plans that give them better care than everyone else gets.
The answer to socialism is that it compels all citizens to participate. If you have a choice to participate or not, you will choose not, and then their model falls apart.
An example of socialism in America is the graduate income tax system. And as we all know, giving our hard earned money to the government allows them to control us. You cannot opt out even if they spend your money on something you disagree with. You pay your taxes out of fear. They take your taxes and give it to others they deem needy.
It is the single most compelling reason why we must repeal the 16th amendment.
