Am assuming this is the one where Emmitt got stuffed.

First, was totally shocked we didnt get it fairly easily. Their defense was worn out at that point.

Second, it might have been the most nobrainer play call of Norv's time here to call a play action pass and have Aikman either walk in himself or find a guy wide open with nobody near him. Every Niner was waiting on Emmitt.
That was a scary point in the game.

I wonder if Jones had a convo with Jimmy (or Parcells) about the Parsons situation.

We know he talks to both of them.

Everybody knew it too. Hell I knew it after the 1983 season. He was an amazing HC and clearly an even better man, but the game had passed him by. We had an awful 1984 and then the kinda flukey 1985 season where we won the division (3 way tie) but also had several embarrassing blowout losses and then a complete flub in the postseason. 86 was a dumpster fire after White got hurt (who was surprisingly playing ok), 87 was bad, 88 was a train wreck. They waited several yrs too long and kept Gil Brandt in his role far too long as well. His drafts from 78-87 were just as inept as it got. His last draft (88) was by far his best in a decade.

What was Jimmy's worst trade? Highsmith? Awalt? Wisniewski to the Raiders?
5 draft picks for Stan Smagala wasn't good.

I think we got 4 picks for Wisniewski and I believe the only one that amounted to anything was Moose. I could be wrong.

Jimmy's good trades far outweighed his bad ones though.

I forgot about Flagler, who was immediately supplanted by Emmitt.

Jimmy- Back then, teams didn’t trade,'' Johnson said, when asked about the 1989 blockbuster trade-away of Herschel Walker, as noted by The Athletic. “In five years, I made 51 trades. And those 51 trades were more than the entire league put together. ... Trading for Charles Haley (in 1992) probably put us in the Super Bowl.”

Game was a merry blur. As John Facenda said in the NFL Films recap, "the game deteriorated into a merciless, one-sided beating."

As awesome as the 52-17 beatdown was, it easily could have been far worse.

That got a gift holding call in the endzone to help score their first TD (would have had to settle for 3) and then Reich was well over the line on his TD throw in the 2nd half. I think they ignored it out of pity because it was obvious.

Then of course Leon Lett had a brain fart and cost us 7. Final score could have easily been 59-6
