stat trap.
It's not a "stat trap" when people use stats to defend Choker Tony, then you show that your current QB has pretty much the same stats - but without nearly the INTs or fumbles, and takes a lot fewer sacks.

If Dak is "mediocre" then so was Choker Tony.
Romo was more talented and more capable than Dak is right now.
That's the myth.

I'm not saying that Romo was elite. I just think that a healthy Romo is better than Dak.

That's the myth.

Romo had arm strength and accuracy that Dak doesn't have and never will have. Romo could throw a deep 50/50 ball. Dak can't do that and it makes the offense worse.

But hey look, I'm the only guy here who was saying "Don't pay Romo." And today I'm saying "Don't pay Dak." My stance hasn't budged one inch, I see them both as the same basic commodity - two guys who have zero accomplishments to point to, two guys who both had great chances to accomplish something... And the deal is, if Dak had at least played in a conference championship game let alone a super bowl, there wouldn't be any debate about whether to keep him or not.

Neither guy ever got anything done. Dak though, bet on himself and in my opinion, lost the bet. He turned down 33 mil a year thinking he was going to the soup bow and could then command much more. He didn't get the job done.

He's done it over and over, you simply refuse to remember it.

Every gripe on Dak, I had with Romo. Throwing behind receivers? Romosexuals called it "throwing them open." Bad underthrows? Somebody must have hit his arm or maybe the ball just slipped out of his hand. Really bad throws you can't comprehend? Romosexuals blame the receiver, every time. Must have been the wrong route. Multiple Bonehead picks in a single game? Of course it's the defense's fault! Time and again Romo stinks up the place, and he gets a pass every time. Excuses abounded. Because people were in love with him, adored him and thought he was the best QB to ever suit up. He wasn't, by far. He wasn't even really very good. He entertained. And yuk-yuk'd it all the way to the 80 million bankroll. Said "losing isn't the worst thing to ever happen" and "interceptions are as good as punts." Didn't seem to mind losing, at all. Yeah. He sucked.

LOL

5 picks in one game is "carrying." 2 for 14 on third down, consistently, is "carrying."

What does one QB have to do with the other? Do you have an infatuation with Romo or something that he has to be brought into every Dak Prescott discussion? It's some sort of twisted Dak Prescott defense mechanism.

In any event, one QB had a D in the bottom of the league and one QB had a D in the 10 to 15 range and has carried this QB when the best we could muster was FG's.

Then how come Dak had less than zero chemistry with Dez? I know, because Romo could throw the passes that Dez could catch. Same with Terrence Williams.

He wasn't even really very good. He entertained.

I gotta say, I miss the entertainment. It sure was better than the lame quasi-Air Raid garbage that Dak runs "efficiently" that is supposed to be entertaining.

Did you just sleep through the 2016 season? Dez's problems started when for the first time in his playing career, coaches ASKED MORE OF HIM. We're not debating that fucking loser here. But there WAS chemistry until his Diva ass got offended. Twilly? Had his best years, with Dak.

Whether to pay them or not when neither has accomplished anything. My answer is NO to both. But all of you Romo lovers didn't put up one gripe about HIM getting paid, even though he was a turnover and sack machine and was a fucking china doll. And would saddle the D with buttloads of 3 and outs on a consistent basis. That might be why the D looked suspect. Feast or famine is more entertaining.

Terrence Williams had better stats with Romo. Dez had better stats with Romo. The guy who had better stats with the QB change was Cole Beasley and he decided that he would rather be with Josh Allen.

He decided to take the better contract.
The guy who had better stats with the QB change was
Zeke. Zeke got all his receiving yards that first year. Until they forgot they could throw to him. But in 2016 the new target was Zeke. Taking targets away from Dez possibly?
It isn't entertaining and it isn't all that efficient.
One yard short of the team record in passing yards. And was a hell of a lot more efficient than it was in 2012. Far fewer 3 and outs, far fewer sacks, far fewer picks.

But yeah, pick sixes are entertaining. Taking ridiculous sacks is entertaining. 3 for 14 in 3rd down conversions is entertaining. 8-8 is entertaining.
Terrence Williams had better garbage stats with Romo.
I fixed your post... Because even though total yards were better, catch percentage went way up after Romo was gone. From 55 percent to 72. Many fewer incompletions on average. Made him attractive in FA. T-Willy got a much unfair knock for body catches and drops, but he got better in those areas, with Dak . Mysteriously.

In boston, there is a lot of talk that dallas is a darkhorse candidate for brady. They are throwing shit at the wall because of it being an upgrade across the board for brady from a personnel standpoint.
Also figuring the offense would cater to him asap upon arrival

no way that happens.. the wagon is hitched to dak for the foreseeable future. Someone is going to blink and its likely to be jerry

I used to think that too, that there is no way the Cowboys would consider looking elsewhere at QB. I was sold that Dak is their guy. The longer they drag this out though it’s looking more and more like they would rather go in a different direction. Brady makes a lot of sense for Dallas as much as some don’t want to admit that. Go hard at Brady and get him signed. Then trade a franchised Dak. No team will likely offer Dallas two 1st’s but the a Cowboys should have the right to negotiate that down. I’d take as low as a 1st+3rd. Then draft whatever QB slides to learn under Brady for a couple years.

He decided to take the better contract.

Not only that, but he has gone on record and said he wasn't happy with his role on the Cowboys, despite him having his best statistical seasons before he became a free agent. But you managed to change the subject after I proved your point wrong, so props to you for that.

Disregarding the talent that was already there I see. Completely dodging my point because again I proved you wrong.

Watching an inconsistent team who can only beat garbage teams and then loses to below average teams AND has an offense that is gimmicky garbage led by a QB who looks decent because the gimmicky garbage scheme makes his receivers open enough that he can't possibly miss... until he misses because in reality he is mediocre.

I'll repeat again: Healthy Romo was more talented than Dak is right now and probably will ever be.

Moving the goalposts because yet again your point was wrong. Nice try Dooms, but did you really think that I wasn't gonna see through that?

Both Dez and Williams put up less yardage with Dak and Romo. That is no coincidence. Saying "Well Dez was just one dimensional" and "Williams caught a higher percentage of passes" is ignoring the fact that their production dropped. And these were the Top 2 receivers on the team at one point.

Let’s just take this into consideration while comparing the whole Dak / Romo debate. Romo did it alll by himself . Romo didn’t have a star running back he had DeMarco Murray for a couple seasons WOOOPITY-DOOO. Romo had Dez Bryant and jason witten, Dak had dez, Beasley, t-will and now Amari Cooper and Randall Cobb and my fave micheal gallup. 🤷🏻‍♂️ . Wait it gets better , how bout an offensive line ? Seems Romo was running for his life every pass play . Hmmmm what about a defense ...ohhhh Romo had ZERO defensive support , if I quite remember didn’t Romo have the worst defense in NFL HISTORYYY to play with ???? What I’m trying to say is Dak Prescott was put in a wayyyyyyy better situation than Tony Romo. #justsaying

Glad you're seeing the light. Everyone thought Dak was going to get paid but even the Jones' know that Dak isn't worth Mahomes money. He's barely worth Russell Wilson money. The only people that over-valuate Dak are the fans. He's got garbage time stats and he can go elsewhere.
Honestly I'm getting there too.
Jackass playing the disrespect card and telling reporters to"definitely print that shit" type statements.
Cowboys are only negotiating against themselves in this thing as no other team would even sniff $30M for this QB.
And I'd counter that he isn't even worth RW money...that is 1 bad man that is everything to the Seahawks.
My only hesitation is that this FO has shown to be poorly organized if things don't go the way they think so if they have a contingency plan then by all means let Dakota walk but don't get caught with your pants down if all your eggs are the Dakota basket.

Didn’t Murray put up over 1,800 yards and hold the Cowboys single season rushing record? People like to say that Romo didn’t have good teams around him but the fact is he had a couple of great teams around him, he just shit the bed on one of this chances and got screwed by the refs in the other.

There is ZERO chance we don’t get married to Dak long term for huge money

I would normally agree with you but if that were the case why haven’t they paid him already? Why drag this out when that only costs them more money?

There's no way to argue with the silliness you're challenging with facts. Posters such as that have the mentality of a 12 year-old when it comes to football. There's no reasoning with them. Can only just ignore them the same way you'd ignore any other child.
