Goff just signed his extension for $32 mil a year

Goff’s deal is the largest guaranteed deal in NFL history

4 year $134 million with $110 million of it guaranteed

Hopefully with Zeke signing his huge deal and Goff signing his $32mil deal it will reset the expectations that Dak might have on what he can get along with making Jeruh rethink what the team is willing to shell out for Dak

We've played 3 teams that have a combined 1 win between them. Let's not start fitting him for his crown just yet gentlemen.
I'm not fitting him for anything, but the realities of the QB market mean we probably sign him to a long term high dollar deal.

It happened with Romo, and there were very few if any objections. In fact I was an outlier, knew it was a mistake. Of course, I was correct. Nothing good happened.

On Dak I much more like his true dedication to the game, his work ethic and the fact that he seems to take it at least as seriously as I do. Never could say that for Romo, the "if losing is the worst that can happen to me," what me worry worthless fuck.

I see no choice for Dallas than to go all-in on Dak at this point. It's just reality.

Tell you the truth, I like our chances with him better than I ever did with Romo.

So the realities of the QB market dictate how we handle Dak's contract but those same market factors didn't apply with Romo? Got it.

What's very telling in all these discussions, including yours, is they never mention talent and ability. They mention "work ethic" and "dedication", among other intangibles.

Let the season play out. If he's not a guy that can carry the team, then move on. I look at tonight's game very simply as a Dak vs Bridgewater game. A franchise QB vs a retread with an 86 QBR and 31 TD's to 23 INT's in his career. This is a game we should win, despite all the BS talk. If we can't beat Teddy freaking Bridgwater, how we going to beat teams with real QB's?

So keep talking about dedication and work ethic. I'll tell you what, I can do those things and won't ask for a penny more than what Dak is currently making. I just can't throw the rock but hey, who even brings up that minor detail? It takes more than that but folks just can't put their finger on anything beyond the intangibles that every franchise QB should have.

Not at all. And it's not even what I said.

What you said:

I mean, I repeated almost word for word what you said. Bad night's sleep last night?

But Dak can, and does. Every week. But hey, numbers be damned right? Stats are padded! LMAO!

Every week so far this season......that's why I said to let it play out. But whatever. Go on with crowing him. As for me, I'm expecting a win tonight and I'd expect him to outplay Bridgewater in a big way. That's what franchise QB's do. Maybe my expectations are just too high.

Comprehension is key. I was saying, predicting, what the team will probably do. NOT saying what I think it should do or what I would do. Your reply was generated by lack of comprehension. "So the realities of the QB market dictate how we handle Dak's contract" is NOT anything close to what I said.

And although you didn't ask I'll tell you anyway, my position on Dak is exactly the same as it was on Dez and Romo - don't get married to him until you've let him TEST THE MARKET first! NOT the artificial market of what top pay of others playing the position is, but the actual market of what he might be offered were he transition tagged. If you feel you can't match his best offer? That's the rub, you might have to let him walk. Then again, the offers coming in might be quite less than the artificial market dictates.

Now, that all goes out the window if Dallas wins the SB or actually even gets to the SB. You don't transition tag a SB winning QB. But as it stands right now today, Dak has done nothing. Not any more or any less than Romo or Dez ever did. Let him play out the year to see what we have and where we are. DO NOT get married to him until then!

Ummm....OK. I gotta laugh that you think it's NOT anything close to what you said. It's exactly what you said. Almost verbatim. Unless you thought/meant that the realities of the QB market means that Dak will get FB or blocking TE money and be one of the lowest paid players on the team. Of course not....the realities of the QB market will ensure that Dak will most probably get overpaid, just like other QB's at that position, including Romo. But you only seem to have a problem with one.

But do me a favor. The next time you post, can you be clear if it's your opinion or the teams that you're offering. Something like an "M" (Mine) or "T" (Teams).

Reading comprehension won't work if you then add your own crap to what others say, then claim it's what they actually said. But, you know that already.

What part of what I said is not what you meant? I mean, there's only so many ways to interpret........"but the realities of the QB market mean we probably sign him to a long term high dollar deal."

I would place the Transition Tag on Dak. Let him play out the final year of his rookie deal and then Transition him. Let him go out and negotiate a new contract with another team (there MAY be about 4 teams in the market for him). I’m betting that the market won’t be anywhere near the $35-$45 mil he wants. The market for him will likely be in the $20-$25 mil range.
Can you imagine the HOWLS from the Grievance Industrial Complex if we were to play this kind of hardball with a BLACK quarterback? It ain't gonna happen.

We're stuck in the closed market can, although I would like to see that can of corn busted open as you describe, no way does jerruh have the balls to do that with this particular player.

See? When you quote what I actually said instead of making something up, your little argument disappears. YOU said:
So the realities of the QB market dictate how we handle Dak's contract but those same market factors didn't apply with Romo?
And that's nothing like what I did say, and nothing I was even thinking. You simply made it all up.

Really? You stated the below. You certainly didn't use the "realities of the QB market" mantra. You were the outlier. That's my point that you use the QB market reasoning for one but not the other.

You're conflating two unrelated statements. Moving the goalposts.

My record on marrying players hasn't changed. No matter the player. As I posted earlier.

Would feel better about a Dak deal than I did with the Romo deal, but still against it.
