dont you dare take Staubach away.
Never happen, he is enshrined here in what I call the DCU Legion of Honor. He has both the dark style AND the white style. He will never be gone as long as this site is on the internet.

Good, do not want his cap hit on the books after this season. Just take the cap hit and get it over with.

BTW this also means they didnt want him back at any price. Knowing that with a pay a cut he would have been an enormous locker room cancer. Says it all.

It’s going to be interesting to see how it plays out on his new team

Because we all know that no other GM/HC won’t put up with his bull shit. Plus he was coddled here by Jerry and protected by Jerry

I have a feeling he is in for a rude awakening when he finds out that the outside world can be a difficult place when you don’t have the Cowboys blanket of protection surrounding you

I kind of figured that once I heard that it was only Jerry that was meeting with him. No agent and no Stephen told me Jerry was just there to break the news to him that the team was going in a different direction.

A bunch of love and heartbreak on the Twitter. Pretty popular player, I guess.
I'd guess his absence will make just about as much difference as his presence did.

Like I said in this thread a few pages back. Father figure Jerruh wanted to deliver the news personally while also expressing his neverending love and adoration.

That’s exactly what happened. Jerry wants to be liked. I get the feeling Stephen doesn’t give a crap though if the players like him or not.

I really super hope you're right about that.

Exactly

That means baby Jeruh might just be able to make some good football decisions in the future and not let his emotions and feelings towards a player cloud his judgement

This could be a good sign

First Johnny football and now Dez

There may be hope for the future after all

There's no evidence that either decision was Jerry's. In fact we know Stevie Boy's hand was well in both. Give Jerry credit for taking his son's advice, if you want. I don't give the mother fucker credit for anything.

I'm starting to like Dez a bit more. And I think he's right.

So now the question is, who's our #1? A rookie WR is going to struggle. Next to QB, it's one of the toughest positions to learn. I wouldn't hold out hope that some young receiver is going to come in and light the league on fire.

come on Dodge, I appreciate many of your takes but this incomplete picture is undermining your credibility

I wasn’t trying to imply that the decision was Jeruh’s. All indication seem to be that he was the only one wanting to keep Dez and that the rest of the FO/coaching staff were the ones who talked him into cutting Dez.

All I’m saying is that it’s a positive sign that Jeruh is actually listening to his staff finally which seems to be (at least on the surface) a step in the right direction.

I would've cut him after the draft. I don't want them to reach for a WR in the first round if they don't have to.

Cutting him today, during or after the draft wasn't going to make any difference.

If there's a WR there that they think is worth the 19th pick, they might take one there.

The fact is he wasn't going to be here regardless.

Some team will pay him his $16 mils this year. Or more!

I kind of doubt it. If that were true somebody would have traded for him to avoid a bidding war and get him at his current contract.
