My fear about Stephen is that he will be the exact opposite of Jerry and be a cheap owner. He doesn’t strike me an owner that’s ok with spending money. That means never going after a big name even if it makes sense.

This.
I've said several times that I think Stephen will be just as bad, but for the opposite reasons.

I’ll take a cheap owner that is willing to hire a real coach and GM over Jeruh all day long

A good coach can get more out of mediocre players whereas a shitty coach like Garrett can’t get a damn thing out of talented players.

Totally with you and Mr B. You'd think the old one who made all the money from basically nothing would be the cheap one and the entitled kid would want to spend, but it seems to be the opposite.

Agree with the OP. Not excited about the draft unless we draft Christian Kirk. I am actually looking around for another team after being a Cowboy fan for 45 years. Most of the other teams I like suck just as bad as we do however. Tampa and Miami.

I'll hold my cynicism back somewhat until after the draft but at this point I feel comfortably numb.I want
To fast forward thru the 2018 season when Garrett and co are gone. I'm sure his replacement will also be a incompetent butt tickler too but at least I wount have to see the current douchebag coaching staff anymore.

Even if Garrett goes, asshole GM will simply replace him with incredibly weak asshole coach.

Yep. Gailey, Campo, Wade and Garrett.

All lousy head coaches, all puppets who no ability to motivate anyone and all helped foster the comfortable "country club" atmosphere.

Couldn't agree more. It's almost more than apathy at this point -- I want Jerry and Garrett to be humiliated, if such a thing is even possible.

What is your feeling about how widespread this feeling is around the Dallas area? If enough people were this apathetic or angry, it might actually cause some kind of change around the team. I'm afraid it's just pockets of us, though, and newer, younger crops of suckers are coming up every day that will sustain Jerry's comfortable little kingdom.

I find it funny that fans actually have these kind of illusions that there could be a fan uprising. I also find it odd that any fan would be more interested in seeing the team humiliated than in seeing it succeed. I get the frustration, but what's the point of being a fan if you don't want the team to succeed?

In any case, the bulk of fans who sink their time and emotions into the team also keep it in perspective, and despite the ups and downs and frustrations and emotions, they ultimately realize football and the Cowboys are down the list of life priorities, well behind family, friends and work. So, they try and enjoy their entertainment options, understanding that part of the entertainment of football and the Cowboys is to fuel their competitive natures and invest their emotions, but also understanding that it can't be allowed to negatively impact their lives. So we move along, often frustrated, but keeping it in perspective relative to other priorities. Accordingly, there will be no uprising.

Yep it's the WWE!

Because many are convinced it's going to take at least one 1-15 campaign to get Jerry to finally clean house. Many are convinced there will be no actual improvement and certainly no real success, until that happens.

Get it now?

The more jaded ones are convinced there will be no real success or real improvement, until some time after Jerry finally croaks.

So, they hope for both.

Some of you fucks accept and tolerate 22 years of mediocre shit for the Dallas Cowboys. You've become the equivalent of Cleveland Browns fans and guarantee the mediocre shit will continue..

So Omer, here is my take: In any pro football organization there are three critical positions. In order those would be GM, head coach, and QB. It should be obvious to even the casual fan that the Cowboys are at a HUGE disadvantage in the area of GM and HC, we will set the QB debate aside for now. I understand that the draft is coming and that normally that would be something to get excited about and gain some hope.

The problem is that it is false hope based o the GM and HC. There are too many teams and the talent spread thin enough that you arent simply going to out talent the rest of the league. Thats where a strong GM and HC come into play. That is what has lead to a 500 record and three playoff wins in 23 years and never advancing toward past the divisional round of the play offs in that time.

Jerry is fortunate that the Cowboys and the NFL are like a crack addiction to many. The only thing thing that gets his attention is $$$. For things to change he would need to see an attendance drop, unsold merchandise, and unsold luxury seating. It is not that anybody here roots for the Cowboys to get humiliated, in fact Dooms and the gang would probably run off anybody that was considered to be an actual troll.

The bottom line is we have been stuck in ground hogs day for almost two and a half decades and the regulars here have come the conclusion that that the only way it changes if for a house cleaning from the front office down, and professional football people whose job depends on their performance to stick around and run things. Until then its entertainment only with no real hope of winning.

I get the frustration. I'm not immune from it. But my point wasn't that there wasn't a reason for frustration, it was that most fans aren't going to put sending a message to Jerry high enough on their priority list for there to be an uprising from fans. Clearly the Cowboys remain one of the most profitable teams in the NFL despite having an incredibly mediocre track record over the last 20+ years, and at time the team has been very bad. This proves my point. I'm sure other's would agree that life's too short to make agonizing over Jerry Jones a priority, or to cut something out of my life that has been part of it for over 45 years. Raising kids, paying mortgages, advancing careers, dealing with aging family members and any number of other things suck up all the agony most people can stand.

Everyone knows most fans won't. You're arguing against shit that's never been said.

A lot of people know too, that Jerry has designed his business model to insulate him from any "uprising." How he did that and how it works is covered here very well.
I'm sure other's would agree that life's too short to make agonizing over Jerry Jones a priority
Nobody's ever said anything like this either. Again, arguing against points never made or even alluded to.
