Pretty sure his snap counts have been high the last few yrs. Carr has probably netteed more snaps because he starts and rarely has come out of games, but Claiborne has been hurt alot and they have used the nickel/dime defense alot.

I think some Cowboy fans overstate his level of play simply because they compare it to Carr and Claiborne.

Yea i dont think i am doing that. I just dont feel the need to put down his game because he is wanting a pay raise.

It probably wouldnt take much more of a raise to make him happy. Pick your battles, i wouldnt fight this one if i was Stephen. Scandrick is an important player on the defense.

Giving him a fair raise isnt out of the question.

Giving him break the bank type money would be foolish though IMO. He isnt that type of player.

True. I think he's getting some sort of advice that he has Dallas over a barrel right now. If they cut Carr and Claiborne is just not ready to be a starter (ever), then who do they have? If they want to punish Scandrick and cut him, he will be overpaid by a Saints or Redskin team. He's just in strong position to extort the team and he's unfortunately taking advantage of it.

They definitely wouldn't cut him.

They'll either give him a small raise to appease him, force his hand and make him play under his current deal or (unlikely) trade him.

Stephen Jones: We just re-did Orlando Scandrick’s contract
Posted by Josh Alper on April 22, 2015, 9:08 AM EDT

The Cowboys are working out without cornerback Orlando Scandrick, who has opted not to report to the team’s voluntary offseason program because he’d like a new contract from the team.

Scandrick is set to make $1.5 million in 2015, less than fellow corners Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne, and is signed through 2018 after agreeing to an extension with the Cowboys late in 2013. Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones referenced that extension on Tuesday when discussing Scandrick’s situation and Jones’s feeling that the corner should be at work.

“He’s under contract, but not unlike a lot of players, they’d like to have more,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan, via the Dallas Morning News. “Orlando is under contract. If something makes sense for us to add some years or do something then we’ll take a look at that, but we just re-did Orlando’s contract a couple years ago and he’s been a really good football player for us. He’s a leader on this team, and we certainly need him out here. In my mind, he should be out here right now, working out.”

Again, the workouts are voluntary so Scandrick isn’t required to be in Dallas any more than the Cowboys are required to give him a new contract because Scandrick performed well again last season. The Cowboys reportedly want to cut Carr’s $8 million salary for 2015, which might lead them to address Scandrick’s contract. That may take a while, though, because Dallas will probably need to add players at the position in the draft in order to make releasing Carr an option that doesn’t leave them shorthanded heading into next season.

If he didn't like the deal he shouldn't have signed it.

He's the best CB on our team, but that's not saying a lot. He is NOT an elite player and he has never been a playmaker. He's had 7 CAREER interceptions and has hit double digit passes defensed just once.

He's a nice player, but he isn't an elite one and should not be paid like one.

He didn’t like the deal and came back and got it resolved. Cowboys realize his worth more than you do.

With his new contract, Scandrick isn't being paid as an elite corner. It seems like a reasonable deal for both the team and the player.
