I miss the days when we had Larry Allen, Nate Newton, (insert C), (insert G), and Erik Williams. Flozell Adams, Larry Allen, C, Nate Newton, Erik Williams.

It's been a problem for a while now.

Bill jones commented last week that Eric Winston if u watch him closely isn't very good, broaddus agreed.

No idea the merit of that just passing it along.

I still think we are taking an ot in rd 1 or 2.

The idea that Jerry will pay Winston big money to cover is other big money tackle doesn't work for me. I don't see it happening.

Where are you hearing this from?

It's an obvious scenario, but I haven't seen anything solid on it yet.

He's going to play Doug Free just like a first round pick: regardless.

I posted something similar a week or two ago after Andy Reid cut him after just one season in KC. I wondered why they'd do that.

That said, I think I read where Winston yielded the fewest sacks for a RT for a player with X amount of snaps at the position (forgot the amount) and he seems like a fit for Callahan's blocking style.

As for big money, with as long as Winston has been out there now I think its likely he's gonna have to sign for cheap.

I think Mike Fisher tweeted it, I saw it in another forum too.

Doug Free wont be playing for us in 2013

Course, that isn't much different than 2011 or 2012 if you think about it.

I get the feeling that Winston is a guy who outside observers think highly of, but coaches must not

I did some some tweet from a guy with the twitter handle "birddog" or whatever that said he is hearing rumors that the Cowboys will sign a vet RT prior to the draft.

I kind of agree with Theebs that we're not going to pay money to cover up the Free mistake. The draft seems like the most likely scenario.

Hell, even Jonathan Bales said keep an eye on FSU OT Watson as a possible 1st rounder for us.

I thought it was interesting, Adam Shefter had a list of all the first round invites to the Draft in NY, and Watson is on the list.

That is odd to me, only because I havent' seen Watsons name really passed around as one of the top 4-5 OT's in this group. In fact, I've rarely heard his name mentioned at all.

I miss having real linemen too. Now they are going to a Zone blocking, finesse line and it stinks IMO.

We used to maul people with our huge lines. Now the FO has no idea what they want and everyone they pick in the draft ends up sucking ass.

Yeah, but Watson is talented and at a pretty premium position, so you know how that goes. Unless they have some character concerns, they'll rise.

Reminds me of when Duane Brown snuck in the first round, been a very good tackle, but I don't think he was viewed that way in his draft.

I would love to get Winston.

Even if he isnt the player he once was, he's still a helluva lot better and cheaper than Free.

I hope we do eventually bring him in.

I am all about getting Winston. Is he as good as he once was? Probably not, but he is an upgrade from Free and has shown he is a leader. I thought it was great when he basically called the KC fans classless when they cheered Cassell getting hurt.
