That door swings both ways. Some wish he would leave so you "love Romo people no matter what" can watch him throw away games with stupid turnovers elsewhere, and see if you can still come up with shitloads of excuses as to why he still does it despite what you almost all will certainly say is "being on a better team"..."better organization"..."better OL"

I can see it now...first Romo 4 pick gem where he costs new team the game..."but, Romo was really familiar with the players in Dallas"..."but but, Romo hasnt had time to learn this new offense"..."but but but, Romo doesnt trust the TE there like he did Witten"..."the new fans were too quick to turn on Romo and it hurt his feelings"

If Romo is wanting a massive deal like the one Flacco just signed, the team should get on the phone and start shopping him to the highest bidder asap. After what KC gave up for that middling scrub Smith, I feel pretty confident we could get a significant package of picks from some QB desperate team (Arizona, Buffalo, Oakland to name a few) and start retooling our franchise.

Sorry dbair, but this entire shit is fucked up! The Cowboys' struck gold by getting UFDA Romo, COURTESY OF Payton/Parcells. Every since then, I think Jerry has quietly been on a mission to try and buil a team made up of majority UFDAs and low round picks. His fucked up mentality, "If we can win with UFDA QB Romo, then why can't we win with UFDA OLs and WRs, etc?"

Take a look at the OL. Livings was an UFDA.

Bernadeau, wasa 7th round draft pick. In fact, he was pick 250 out of 252 (the last OL taken in the 2008 draft), pretty much a cunt hair from being a UFDA.

Then there's Costa, another UFDA, that is Jerry's pet and whom he has been pushing hard for.

And then there is O'Leary, who received one of the highest contracts for a UFDA. Jerry gave him a 3rd round grade.

But it doesn't stop there. Austin, Ogletree--- one of the reasons I'm sure he was kept around for so long; and Beasly.

Jerry is really trying to "build" this team from UFDAs. Sure he'll have a couple of superstars here and there, to have the fans get excited about and thus fill seats.

People, we're not going to draft an OL in the 1st round. Warmack, Cooper, Jeockle, Johnson, Fluker, and the other highly touted OT, could all be there at #18, and Jerry would pass on all of them. I'm certain, we'll be drafting Vaccaro or some other DB like Elam. You can maybe get away with using low round draft picks and UFDAs at such positions as a RBs, and WRs, and get lucky at QB with Romo, but at least he has a little bit of sense to know that you cannot do that with the defensive secondary---you've got to have ballers back there. Too bad the fucker doesn't realize that should also be applied to the OL.

When you think about it, Romo was the worst thing that could have happened to the Cowboys, certainly not by his design.

Actually, let me say this: Romo is the worst thing to happen to the Cowboys, with an owner/GM like Jerry.

You'd have a point if I were a "love Romo no matter what" person. I've been critical of him in the past and took plenty of flack for it.

I sported this signature back in 2009.

Needless to say, I'm far ahead of you in terms of actually criticizing the guy for his turnovers.

That said, the guy is a very good QB and with any sort of support structure around him he could succeed. Problem is, Dallas thinks that skill players trump everything so they only invest into that area.

I'm not even sure how to respond. On the one hand you admit the ransom he could bring based on a middling scrub such as Smith but at the same time you're okay with getting rid of him.

It's doubtful he would want what Flacco go. Doubtful any team would pay another QB that. The Ravens should have franchised him and called his bluff. "Show me you can do it again, Joe".

As far as retooling the franchise? With this leadership? You must be joking.

He's a QB who's had some very good seasons, teams will overpay for even mediocre QB's (see recent deals for Alex Smith, Carson Palmer). If one comes to the conclusion that Romo is good but will probably never get us over the top, it makes sense to try and trade him while his value is still high.

I'm all aboard the team needing to upgrade the OL, but even when the OL was above average to good, Romo made alot of bad mistakes. Its just the way he plays.

Favre made a lot of bad mistakes, too. Doesn't matter that much when you can make as many good plays as Romo can.

It matters when you always seem to make them in the most important games.

I like the guy, am glad we have had him. Am just not 100% sure he can ever get us (or any team) over the top.
