So, has glorydays passed dbair on the homer scale? jk gloydays

And the way I look at it, if we lose to the Giants it's not a huge deal anyway. They're the defending champs and it's at their field. Not the same as, say, losing to the Skins at home.

lol "We don't need no stinking offensive line! Scrambling Tony will make up for all their deficiencies. Because it's worked sooooo well for us the last five years."

huh?

its not a big deal? this is the best rivalry in the league, they have pushed us around for 4 years....we need to get the monkey off our back and get a positive start to the season.

I cant believe your saying this....

Oh, I want us to win and I actually think we will win, but in the big picture, we're most likely going to lose at least four or five games. And the first game of the year on the road against the defending champs should almost be expected to be one of those, and wouldn't be a killer if it happened.

Part of it is that I don't buy this "statement game" stuff. Or that they have our number or whatever. We just need to win at home and beat the bad teams, and we'll be in position at the end of the year.

IMO it's fairly close to a no-lose situation. They're the ones with all the pressure on them as defending champs to win at home.

Now if we go up there and just get curbstomped all night like at the end of last year, that's another matter.

If you don't think game 1 is a statement game then I don't know what to tell you...

Either this team has changed or it hasnt. We will find out week 1

If we beat the Giants and then lose to the Seahawks, what kind of statement have we made?

What's LMFAOable is "statement games" in the pros. Maybe late in a year against a team you're likely to face in the playoffs or something - like a few years ago when the Patriots and Colts were so good - but even then I doubt it.

What's going to happen if we win, we have some big advantage over teams because they're scared of us, or what? How does this work?

I take it just as a positive confident feeling of correcting some mistakes they worked hard in the offseason to fix.

I feel like beating them would propel us to a good start, just like in 07.....They are a good team, I just feel its good for the locker room to shake that bad feeling.

I didn't mean it was a statement game for the rest of the league

Nobody is going to be scared of us no matter what

It's a statement game in the sense that it will give us an understanding of whether or not this team is any different than the last few years

Our problems have been late in the year, not September. So I don't see how the first game of the year will prove anything's different.

If we lose, are you saying we'd be sure the team is the same? I don't think so. Every year is different.

When was the last time this team beat a team that was considered a good team?

Sf last year comes to mind. But nobody thought they were good at the time

Probably have to all the way back to 2009

Week 1 is a huge game IMO..maybe not in the grand scheme of things...but it's time this team proves its turned the corner..week 1 is a great way to get that started..an embarrassing loss week 1 and we look like the same ole losers

Agree 100%. The anchor dude seems straight out of a move stereotype of anchormen. The chick has the personality of cardboard.
The show could be decent but they need a Dan Patrick type to host and Erin Andrews to co-host.
