Jason Garrett yesterday...

Yesterday there were reports that practice was garbage. A lot of players were slow, sloppy, receivers dropping balls, etc.

What does Garrett do? He lines Bailey up, tells the team that if he makes a 27 yard field goal, that practice is over and the team will go to the beach.

Smart move by a coach in recognizing that the players might be getting worn down and in need of a break? Or rewarding piss poor performance?

All depends on whether they respond to it positively. If they come out sharp and refreshed against SD, it worked. If not, it didn't.

I dunno. I wasnt there.

Guess we'll see. My opinion based on what we saw vs Oakland is because of all the injuries, this has been a wasted camp anyway. Several players came out and said otherwise though, so I guess we'll see.

A wasted camp? Are you serious? How the fuck did you conclude that?

Just going by what I read. Maybe I should have specified "offensively" this was a wasted camp. Doesnt seem that on most days they can execute the plays correctly because of the C situation and because of the injuries elsewhere.

Ultimately though when 20% (and some days more) of your team is missing practices, and that 20% is made up mostly of guys you thought were going to start or be key reserves, thats not accomplishing much.

Your argument holds a little more weight when you change it to just the offense.

Even if all we got out of camp was reps for smith at LT every day vs Ware...that might be enough...throw in dez and Murray killing it and it sounds like a success to me...

We already know romo and witten will do their thing. Plus, we already knew the OL sucked...can't be any worse than last year...let's just hope this team has an attitude/toughness to them...we will find out rather quickly. Sept 5 @ NY @ 830pm

I hope so. Just not real encouraged by the other night, and am thinking tomorrow night might be similar to what we saw in Oakland.

Hopefully they can get some people healthy and get some good work in for the next preseason game, as the last one is usually all backups anyway.

I'm pretty sure we were horrendous looking last Pre season too...we looked pretty good week 1

A 27 yarder?

Really? A FG from the 10 yard line?

Wow, what a mastermind. Let them feel as though it was an deservedly earned break all the while handing it to them.

Perhaps he was just fooling a bit. Hopefully.

He should have asked them how it felt to get their teeth kicked in during the 4th quarter and then made them resume practice.

Please don't criticize Pettiti. His dad might post here.

Thanks Mid! You're the man! His dad is welcome here anytime! Rob would have been an All Pro if we had given more time to develop!

I couldn't believe he said this. Sounds exactly like Jimmy, doesn't it?

"We really like everything about it," coach Jason Garrett said about training in Oxnard. "The weather is something everybody talks about, that's a good thing, I think it allows you to get more work in. The players are more focused on what we're asking them to do instead of the Gatorade and water jug behind them. We've all practiced in some of those really, really hot Texas days where the focus isn't on competing against each other. It's where's the trainers? Where's the water? Give me a hold towel. All of that stuff. We feel like this gets you away from the mindset and lets you go to work.

Fire crotch showing why he never amounted to more than a shitty 3rd QB in the league. I'm glad he's passing his philosophy down to others.
