Alas, Confirmation

RT @JordanWoy: Happy to be officially working with Anthony Spencer. Working to determine if he will sign franchise tender or long term.

Need to see details on the LT deal.

I think he'd show improvement if we had a Dline that could collapse pocket, or a secondary who didn't suck dick.

I'd rather him sign a long-term deal than milk us for $9M and bounce.

:dbair but I think we bought ourselves some leverage. A player of his status doesn't want to play in another contract year

I'd rather he'd walk.
I'd rather he was let go before he was tagged and we could have used $9M to sign 2 players. Now that he's been tagged, I'd rather sign him to a multi-year deal and not have to go through this again next off-season.

and then the OLB would have been a gaping hole and had to have been filled with a lesser player, causing an already suspect defense to probably tae another step back

no thanks

if there was an obvious upgrade out there that we could have got, then yeah...but there wasnt, and thats why he was tagged

Yea if we can get Spencer at a small base salary, and then win our cap appeal on may 10th then we can go after Mario Williams

lol

meh. If he got an extension that could void to 2 years, then I'd be ok with it.

Yes, I know..every move the Cowboys makes is a good one and every player we don't sign is a scrub. That's why we've won 17 championships in a row.

Gaping hole?

Even if that was true, what team thinks solely about the here and now?

Like Spencer being on the team would make the difference between a Superbowl or not. He's shown nothing to warrant a long term contract, he should be happy he's getting an offer.

And obvious upgrade?

Like that has been a prerequisite for making moves that needed to be made in the past.

Who was the upgrade over Gurode?

Everyone knew Newman was gone before Carr was signed, didn't stop people from knowing.

Building a team doesn't involve being scared about one single year. Completely irrational to think that an average player is the difference between winning it all or not winning. That's what Dallas has done with Spencer.
