Cowboys' Gregory continues to rehab

Suspended Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is out of rehab in Massachusetts, but he's still receiving and will continue to receive regular treatment in Dallas, according to a league source, so his rehab is not over.

But those who know Gregory insist he has been clean for over four months and is doing as well as he has in recent memory. He has changed his attitude and priorities, added weight, worked out regularly, and impressed the people around him, who believe he has turned a corner in his personal life.

They acknowledge that there still is work to do, and it always will be a battle, but with Gregory continuing to address his personal demons with the help he needs, they believe he can be a significant factor for the Cowboys once he is allowed to return to football.

AKA.....In Cowboys condensed version means he will be MIA for a press conference when the team is pushing for the last wilcard spot with 2 weeks left in season just after Jerry gives him a contract extension for getting a gold star for completing rehab. He will be caught that same day snorting coke off a hookers ass while she holds his dime bag of weed . The 2 headed monster of JerryJay will claim he was just rehabbing a mythical injury that nobody seems to know anything about with botanical medicine that could cause him to miss somewhere between the last 2 games of the season or the next 2 seasons of his career.

Substance abuse and addiction - it's tough. Good luck to him.

The Cowboys shouldn't count on him, of course, but nothing wrong with holding on to his rights. There is a slim chance that things will work out for Gregory to actually contribute to the team, so keep it possible until it isn't.

Dallas Cowboys: Cowboys DE Randy Gregory's drug suspension lengthened to 14 games | SportsDay

Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory had his drug policy-related suspension lengthened from four games to 14 Tuesday, the NFL announced.

Sources said earlier this month that the NFL Players Association had withdrawn an appeal of Gregory's suspension.

Gregory was already serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The new suspension, which is for 10 games, is tacked onto that total. That means the earliest Gregory could return to practice would be Dec. 19, making him eligible for the final two games of the regular season.

Gregory checked himself into a treatment center this summer intending to complete the program before the Cowboys reported to training camp on July 28, sources said. But a source said that Gregory left the facility for a weekend and missed a scheduled test.

A missed test carries the same weight as a failed test.
