But yea he's gonna have to hit the ground running though. with the different matchups hell see like the octopus jpp and then the low to ground speed of Trent cole.

This year we just need to avoid the disastrous plays via multiple whiffed blocks. The line looks more capable physically and even on their worst plays shouldn't spring 2 free rushers.

I say that because Murray on the dumpoff as a safety valve is at worst 3 yards. So we can't have drive killers. Bad snaps, delay of games, holding etc. this is the year the offense is more reliable and consistent. If we need at least a few firsts to change field position or get the defense a rest late in a game they should be able to do it

  • [*]Tony Romo is good. Real good. If the receivers go where the play designs them to go, he will find them.

Yep, as I had been saying all offseason. He made Laurent Robinson, not vice versa.

[*]I really like Cole Beasley. I think he is a match up nightmare. And with our poor offensive line, I think he can be a great assett to Romo because with his quickness, he can get open quickly.

All 3 guys (O'Tree, Harris and Beasley) have looked really solid all preseason. I was convinced heading into camp the 3rd WR wasnt on the roster, now I'm convinced we dont have a problem.

[*]I liked Dwayne Harris when we drafted him. Kind of was unimpressed with his rookie year. What he did last night was what I expected to see from him last season.

Definitely improved from his rookie season. Robinson's good work at WR coach is showing.

    [*]Still not sold on Ogletree.

I dunno, looks like the lightbulb has come on for him, he's been really good all preseason, save the one drop. Showing good hands, running excellent routes and alot of toughness.

[*]How early is too early to draft Murray in fantasy leagues? Is it not obvious he is going to be a workhorse for us?

    He's a 1st or 2nd rd pick I think.

[*]Tyron Smith was really struggling with Quinn last night.

I didnt see that. Quinn's sack came on a play he wasnt blocked on. That wasnt struggling with someone, that was a missed assignment either by Smith or the RB.

[*]Felix Jones looks disinterested in football. I feel like he has talent, but he just half-asses it. I'd play him vs. Miami and tell him his job is on the line.

Other than the kickoff return he ran out from too far in, he looked really good last night. Not sure what game you watched.

    [*]Our special teams sucks.

Bailey is a probowl caliba kicker. Jones looks more than adequate as a punter. I agree our return team is less than inspiring, but the coverage units have looked good. The one long return the Rams had, there were two or three obvious blocks in the back.

[*]Alex Albright can get to the passer, but he's very underwhelming in run support.

He's a nice backup player, but thats all he will ever be.

[*]You have to find a role for Hamilton. He's good.

Ton of upside. Agree, he has to make the 53. They'll never get him on the PS.

[*]IR Johnson. Not sure I'd roll with Silva though. Might look for a safety after releases accross the league.

Definitely a disappointing camp for him. Kid just cant get healthy.

Adrian Hamilton could be a double digit sack guy. The problem is, how well can he do anything else?

He makes my 53. He's too good at pressuring the QB to not make it.

It's okay to have specialists on the team. If he is the best pass rusher not named Ware then you play him on passing downs. 49ers did that last year with Aldon Smith and he had 14 sacks. Now, with more coaching, Smith is ready for a bigger role. I'm not saying Hamilton is anywhere near the caliber player of Aldon Smith but he can definitely be used in a similar role.

Maybe in a few years. ala James Harrison, Sheik.

He's still raw.

Every once in a whole Bob, every blue moon.

Excellent comparison. Harrison couldn't handle the coverage responsibilities of a 3-4 OLB at first. He still isn't great at it.

Like I said in the gameday thread about Tyron Smith. Either Robert Quinn is going to be very good this year, or Tyron Smith is going to be very inconsistent.

He's not a great pass-rusher either. More like a Tazmanian Devil at this point versus an accomplished pass-rusher.

hamilton is definitely a tough call on a roster spot.

this is an important cut down....We have some guys who if they get cut wont come back but if you keep them they can not help right at this moment.

All the injuries are definitely going to impact our roster, there'll be a player or two we have to cut to make up at a shortage elsewhere (I was reading about Chapas having a real shot to make the team for the BYG due to Witten's injury) which means you are keeping him at the expense of someone else.

Hopefully it doesnt cost us a real nice player down the road

Did you miss where Felix missed the blitzing LB, who blasted Orton? Gave me a flashback to when Gronkowski whiffed on the block that cost Romo for the season.

If he can get to the QB, I don't care how he does it.

I do think you're right about your Harrison Comparison.

And I have my doubts about wether or not he can be an every down player or not, at any point. But, like Cmd pointed out, it's okay to have specialists. Butler has been in that limited role for what, 4 years now? I'd give Hamilton that roster spot if the team thinks Butler is at his ceiling.

I don't know what game you saw, but Smith was not as inconsistant as you claim. Smith definitely owned his ass on that first TD play by Harris. You really overblowing it.

I didnt miss it, but its something he rarely has an issue with and is usually very good in blitz pickups. Like I said I think it was more of a miscommunication than anything else. He had several good blocks last night.

I wonder if being such an uber homer takes effort.

Like, does dbair have beads of sweat forming on his forehead when he's writing a post?

Does he stick his tongue out like Charlie Brown?

Jones has always been excellent in blitz protection...he had one play last night where he missed an assignment...if it starts happening more often then I'll worry, but since he showed up here as a rookie he has been quite good at it

its not being a homer dipshit, its a fact
