It would suck to take up a roster spot for an undetermined amount of time. .

Honestly I've never gotten this mentality. You have to have 7 guys inactive every week anyway.

If you think there's a chance a guy can return before the mandatory 8 weeks, you don't IR him. Especially if its a guy as good as Fred is and as critical to the teams OL success.
