Wow, can't believe Marvin Lewis is in his 15th year as HC in Cinci and he's never won a playoff game

I think the Lance guy should have been cut after is second muffed return in as many weeks. I want nothing to do with him.

All I'm saying is that some other team will be desperate enough to snatch him up and he won't make it to our PS.

He has one TD in preseason. That is more than some #1 WR's in the league

And yes I probably do have cabin fever. 8 days on this boat and we still haven't reached CA waters yet. But at least I got the direct TV to work and was able to see the game last night. So that helps!

Kool-Aid extra potent this year at CZ. Cowboys put in a waiver claim on Kony Ealy who ended up on NYJ. Some of zone fan boys claiming Ealy is no better than they already have, even though half cant stay healthy and the other half havent proven anything yet. Got a feeling that opener might have some harsh realities for some people.

No one wanted to trade with the Patriots for defensive end Kony Ealy. But nearly 25 percent of the league was happy to claim his contract on waivers.

Seven total teams made waivers claims, according to Jane Slater of NFL Media. Beyond the Jets, who secured priority (sucking has its privileges), the Cowboys, Giants, Buccaneers, Washington, Lions, and Cardinals.

Ealy is signed through 2017, at a base salary of $800,000. He became an instant star with three sacks in Super Bowl 50. He had five in 16 games last season, which shows that he’s capable of playing well in the right system.

I think they wanted to take a look obviously, and with two (and perhaps three or four if Crawford and Tapper cant play) DE's being gone to start the year they need bodies badly.

I think if they thought he was a certain "upgrade" they'd have traded for him instead of letting him get to waivers. They are at the bottom of the waiver priority list and knew it was unlikely he'd get to them.

I wont lose any sleep over it. He's had one average year and one really good game his entire career.

The Pats gave up on him almost a week before final cutdowns. There's a reason.

I would think if they 100% believed he'd be here all year they might have done that.

Apparently they were only interested in a free look-see and then maybe have him on the team till all the suspended/injured guys return.

That said, I really think this coming final cutdown Friday/Saturday/Sunday is gonna be interesting for our guys this year.

IIRC, they swamped picks with Carolina. Pats got Carolinas 3rd for the Pats second so NE just moved down a few spots, effectively giving up position in the draft but not losing a pick altogether...much less severe than punting a second round pick

your point stands though, Belichik can get away with just about anything given his track record

Bills trade LB Reggie Ragland to Chiefs for 2019 pick

A high-profile clear-out in Buffalo continued on Monday when the team dealt 2016 second-round pick Reggie Ragland to the Chiefs in exchange for a 2019 fourth-round pick.
The Bills made the move official, via their website Monday afternoon.

Ragland, who missed the entire 2016 season with a torn ACL, was not believed to be a fit in Sean McDermott's new defense. As NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport noted, Ragland had been on the trading block for most of the summer, though it was always a matter of recouping the best value. Around The NFL's Marc Sessler sniffed out the Chiefs as a potential landing spot for Ragland two weeks earlier, citing Kansas City's need to cultivate depth at the linebacker spot.

A Rex Ryan-era pick, Ragland now heads to play for Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton, a fellow employer of the versatile 3-4 look Ryan had pegged Ragland for back in 2016. Sutton was Ryan's long-time linebackers coach in New York.

So it goes for the new executive group in Buffalo. McDermott made a hasty attempt to change the Ryan-era culture by cracking down on rules and removing the team's locker room ping pong table. A little more than two weeks ago, new general manager Brandon Beane also took an eraser to the Doug Whaley tenure by executing a blockbuster trade that sent former No. 4 overall pick Sammy Watkins to the Rams and 2015 second-round pick Ronald Darby to the Eagles.

For new general managers and coaches, this type of shakeup seems to have become a standard. Upon Howie Roseman's return to power in Philadelphia, he distanced the team from almost every major selection or signing of the Chip Kelly era. In Cleveland, the Browns also sold their roster in parts, collecting whatever draft capital they could manage. The Bills have enough experience at quarterback and enough veteran experience to stay afloat in 2017, but the pivot toward a potentially brighter (and younger) future started a few months ago and there's no looking back.

The New York Giants' vaunted front seven will be without one of its contributors for the season's first quarter.
Third-year defensive end Owa Odighizuwa was suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league's performance enhancing drugs policy.

Odighizuwa has tallied just six combined tackles in 18 games played through two seasons with Big Blue.

Taking note of practice differences between the Cowboys and Texans

FRISCO, Texas -- With the Houston Texans practicing at The Star on Monday, it was interesting to note the differences in how they practice -- at least early -- compared to the Dallas Cowboys.

The only portion of the Texans' practice open to the media was stretching and individual drills. While it would be acceptable to believe the players' minds were elsewhere given what was going on back in Houston, there wasn't the same jump in the step compared to a Cowboys' practice.

Over the years new players come to the Cowboys and are surprised at the fast pace of everything, from the stretching period to the individual periods. Jason Garrett will end the stretching period by leading the players through five jumping jacks. It's kind of an old-school approach but it gets the players' attention.

During the individual periods, the pace was faster and there was more noise. And we're not talking about the music the Cowboys pump in during practice.

This isn't a slight on the Texans. It's just an observation.

Dak Prescott completed 15 of 18 passes in team and 7-on-7 drills to bring his camp total to 213-of-296.

Dez Bryant had an interesting start to practice. On his first one-on-one snap against Orlando Scandrick, he had what may have been his first drop of training camp. Bryant gave Prescott a thumbs up as he worked back to the huddle and he appeared to change his gloves. On his final one-on-one snap, he was slow to get up after getting tangled up with cornerback Anthony Brown. He had a brief conversation with head athletic trainer Jim Maurer but did not miss a snap. In fact, in 7-on-7 work he made a diving catch near the sideline on a Prescott deep ball.

With running back Ezekiel Elliott appealing his six-game suspension in New York, Darren McFadden and Rod Smith took the first-team snaps at tailback. McFadden took the majority.

Given that the Cowboys had two wide receivers wearing a yellow jersey with the No. 13, it is safe to say they spent a good portion of practice going over their work for the New York Giants and Odell Beckham Jr. Of course, Beckham has an ankle injury and there is some question as to whether he will be available Sept. 10.

With Anthony Hitchens out, Jaylon Smith took the first-team snaps at middle linebacker. Justin Durant took the second team snaps in the base defense but worked with the top group in the dime package. As of now, they will split the work with Hitchens looking at an eight-week absence with a knee injury.

Rookie cornerback Chidobe Awuzie saw his first work in team drills in a couple of weeks because of a hamstring strain. Safety Xavier Woods (hamstring) took some turns in practice, as did receiver Ryan Switzer (hamstring). The Cowboys hope all three will be able to play a little Thursday.

Defensive end Charles Tapper was back to practice after missing a week with a neck strain. He put an impressive spin move on offenesive tackle Byron Bell in pass-rush drills that left Bell flat-footed.

The Cowboys announced an attendance of 9,240. With practice starting later in the day they were able to get more kids since school was over. Their last open practice of camp is Tuesday.
