NFL Mock Draft - 9/10/2012
Round 1
1. Miami Dolphins - Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU: Currently in rebuild mode, the Dolphins have several holes on their roster and are the current frontrunners for the top pick. After selecting their quarterback of the future (Ryan Tannehill) in the first round last year, the Dolphins need to look at the best non-QB in the draft and that could be Mingo, who draws comparisons to Broncos pass rusher Von Miller.

2. Cleveland Browns - Matt Barkley, QB, Southern California: With new ownership taking over in Cleveland, it won't matter much that Brandon Weeden was taken in the first round last April - if he continues to struggle and the Browns have another top-five pick, expect this pick to be a quarterback. Barkley isn't the biggest and lacks elite arm strength, but his football aptitude and leadership are truly impressive.

3. Indianapolis Colts - Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia: Entering their first season in a 3-4 defensive scheme, the Colts and head coach Chuck Pagano will continue to look for young players that fit their scheme. Veteran pass rushers Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis are still in town, but Jarvis Jones will bring youth and excitement, having played pass rush linebacker the past few seasons at Georgia.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars - Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU: The Jaguars have drafted offense in the top-10 the past two years (Blaine Gabbert, Justin Blackmon) and with a young foundation on that side of the ball, they might look to the defense with this pick. Jacksonville drafted Andre Branch last year and re-signed Jeremy Mincey, but could use some more youth on the defensive line to groom and Montgomery could be too good to pass up.

5. Kansas City Chiefs - Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas: The Chiefs have quietly built a fairly strong roster and are legitimate contenders in the AFC West. But in this quarterback league, Matt Cassel is the engine that makes the team go and if the Chiefs fail surpass a .500 record in 2012 (for the fifth time in the last six years) then look for Kansas City to look for an upgrade at quarterback.

6. St. Louis Rams - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M: Former second-overall pick Jason Smith was traded before the season started and Barry Richardson and Wayne Hunter are currently manning the right tackle position opposite Rodger Saffold. St. Louis will need to upgrade this spot next off-season and Joeckel is rated as the top offensive tackle in next year's class, possibly pushing current left tackle Saffold to the right side.

7. Minnesota Vikings - Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State: Defensive tackles that are 320 pounds aren't supposed to move as quickly and easily as Hankins, flashing a similar skill set to 2012 first-round pick Dontari Poe. But Hankins has better production (11.0 tackles for loss as a sophomore) and would fit well next to Kevin Williams for the Vikings.

8. Buffalo Bills - Keenan Allen, WR, California: The Bills need help on offense and might consider a quarterback with this pick if Ryan Fitzpatrick continues to struggle. But after giving him a contact extension last season, it's more likely that Buffalo will draft talent to put around him and although he doesn't get as much hype as fellow Pac-12 receiver Robert Woods, Allen is more of a playmaker with outstanding speed.

9. Tennessee Titans - David Amerson, CB, North Carolina State: With Cortland Finnegan no longer in Tennessee, the Titans are ready to roll with Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner as their starting cornerbacks, but depth is an issue. Amerson will be a highly debated prospect because he doesn't have elite speed or suddenness, but it's tough to argue with his ballhawking ability (NCAA-best 13 interceptions in 2011).

10. Seattle Seahawks - Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State: The Seahawks are always a wildcard team on draft weekend so it wouldn't be surprising to see them look to upgrade an already strong defensive line. Seattle drafted a pass rusher last season (Bruce Irvin), but Werner provides a different dimension and is on pace for a record-breaking season in 2012 (6.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks through two games).

11. Oakland Raiders - Logan Thomas, QB, Virginia Tech: The Raiders are committed to Carson Palmer at quarterback for now, but long-term is a question mark. With a new braintrust running the front office, led by GM Reggie McKenzie, Oakland will be searching for Palmer's eventual replacement and Thomas is a better version of the Raiders' current third-stringer (Terrelle Pryor).

12. Arizona Cardinals - Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia: It doesn't matter who ends up starting more games for the Cardinals this season, it's not a stretch to say that Arizona's starting quarterback next season isn't on the current roster. Geno Smith isn't really being talked about right now as a first rounder, let alone a top-15 pick, but if he continues to perform at a high level, it will be tough to find reasons why he doesn't belong this high.

13. Carolina Panthers - Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah: Carolina hasn't had an impact interior defensive lineman since Kris Jenkins, who last suited up for the Panthers in 2007. Considered a top-10 pick by many, Lotulelei would provide an instant upgrade in the middle of the Panthers' defensive line as an every-down, versatile player who can do a lot of things.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama: With Aqib Talib set to hit free agency after this season (and not much depth behind him), would have to guess that the Buccaneers would jump at the chance to draft an impact cornerback. Milliner is a prospect on the rise and has a chance to make himself some money if the rest of his junior season is as impressive as his season debut against Michigan.

15. Cincinnati Bengals - Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M: With 2009 first-round pick Andre Smith set to be a free agent after the 2012 season, the Bengals might be looking for a replacement right tackle. Matthews, who is the son of Hall of Fame lineman Bruce Matthews, has manned the right tackle spot for the Aggies the past two seasons.

16. St. Louis Rams (from Washington) - Robert Woods, WR, Southern California: The Rams drafted Brian Quick with the first pick in the second round this past year and also added Chris Givens, but the wide receiver situation in St. Louis still needs help. Like former Trojan and current Rams receiver Steve Smith, Woods isn't the biggest of fastest, but is very polished and productive.

17. Philadelphia Eagles - Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan: Philadelphia's situation at left tackle is troublesome with King Dunlap currently starting because of Jason Peters multiple achilles issues. And with no one able to predict if he will ever return to 100 percent, Lewan would be a smart pick and give the Eagles an instant upgrade.

18. NY Jets - Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina: Rumors swirled that New York considered trading up for Trent Richardson in this past draft and if Shonn Greene doesn't produce better numbers, the Jets will look for an upgrade next year. Although not as good as Richardson, Lattimore is the complete package and looks fully healed from his knee injury.

19. Detroit Lions - Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State: Despite the loss of 2012 first-round pick DT Fletcher Cox, Mississippi State has a handful of underrated NFL prospects on their defense, led by Banks who would provide an immediate upgrade to the Lions' secondary. At 6-2, 190, Banks is the preseason top senior at his position.

20. San Diego Chargers - Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee: After letting Vincent Jackson walk in free agency last season, the Chargers are relying on Malcom Floyd and Robert Meachem to be Phillip Rivers' top targets. If neither step up and produce big numbers, San Diego will have a tough time passing on a big-time talent like Hunter in the draft.

21. New Orleans Saints - Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina: The Saints signed Brodrick Bunkley via free agency to pair with Sedrick Ellis in the middle, but Ellis' rookie contract is up after the 2012 season and isn't expected to re-sign with New Orleans. Williams isn't a household name (yet), but is one of the top senior defensive linemen in the nation.

22. Dallas Cowboys - Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas: With Anthony Spencer looking for a big contract, there is a good chance the Cowboys let him loose next year. And if Dallas is looking for a pass rusher in next year's draft, there might not be a better fit than Jeffcoat who watched his father get after opposing quarterbacks for the Cowboys in the early ???90s.

23. Atlanta Falcons - Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama: The Falcons have several needs on the offensive line and need to address these issues in order to keep Matt Ryan healthy. Warmack is an extremely fluid and mobile blocker who can start from day one, offering Pro Bowl potential.

24. Baltimore Ravens - Barrett Jones, OG, Alabama: One of the more underrated losses in free agency this offseason was Ben Grubbs bolting Baltimore for New Orleans. And although the Ravens signed Bobbie Williams to fill their hole at left guard, Jones gives Baltimore a smart, versatile player who is the rock of Alabama's offense.

25. Houston Texans - John Jenkins, DT, Georgia: The Texans' front office, led by GM Rick Smith, has transformed their roster into one of the strongest squads in the NFL, even on defense. While defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has made it work with Shaun Cody and Earl Mitchell at nose tackle, Jenkins would give the Texans a stout run stuffer in the middle.

26. Chicago Bears - Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame: The Bears two best linebackers, Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher, are both over 31 years of age and Urlacher, who has battled numerous injuries, doesn't have a contract beyond this season. Te'o is an active, hungry linebacker with a lot of production on his resume.

27. Denver Broncos - Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame: The Broncos have a small window to win with Peyton Manning as their quarterback, so why not add as many weapons as possible? The Broncos added Joel Dreessen and Jaocb Tamme in the off-season, but Eifert would present an instant upgrade over both of them and give Manning another productive target.

28. New Orleans Saints - Carrington Byndom, CB, Texas: Although the Saints received improved play from Patrick Robinson, New Orleans could use more depth at cornerback, especially in a conference with receivers like Roddy White, Julio Jones, Vincent Jackson and Steve Smith. Byndom might not be a first rounder yet, but he could be with another progressive season in Austin.

29. Pittsburgh Steelers - D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama: The Steelers have a lot of questions on the offensive line and unless Mike Adams makes progress over the course of his rookie season, it won't be surprising to see Pittsburgh look up front in the first round next year. Fluker is a mauling right tackle and could also move inside to guard if needed.

30. Green Bay Packers - Eric Reid, FS, LSU: The Green Bay defense was awful last season, especially the secondary, and hasn't gotten off to a great start in 2012. The Packers have moved Charles Woodson to safety to help, but they will search for depth in the offseason, making Reid a logical target with this pick.

31. San Francisco 49ers - Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina: The Niners aren't shy about drafting offensive linemen in the first round and with Adam Snyder leaving San Francisco via free agency, the right guard spot is currently a question mark. Cooper might not be a first round pick now, but he has top-32 potential with a few tweaks as a senior.

32. New England Patriots - Corey Lemonier, DE, Auburn: New England added a pass rusher in the first round last year so they won't go there again in the 2013 NFL Draft, right? Not so fast. The Patriots are in a position to take the best player on the board and that might be Lemonier who is one of hottest prospects currently moving up draft boards.

I'd be pining for Barrett Jones or Eric Reid there but wouldn't be mad at picking Jackson Jeffcoat. Legacy pick.

My favorite part is how it looks like a giant wall of text. It's called an enter key, Mr. Halfass.

Also... no way Robert Woods goes before Justin Hunter.

Much.

And I'd hate to take an OLB there and continue to ignore the interior of the line.

How do you like the other Volunteer WR, the JuCo kid?

He's a naturally gifted kid who has traits you can't coach. Would do well to stay in school for his senior season to work on the mental part of the game and refine his route running.

2013 NFL Mock Draft
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NFL Mock Draft Last Updated: September 11
NEPD Editor: James Christensen

1. Cleveland Browns
Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah - The incredibly-massive (6-4/325) Lotulelei is going to anchor a defensive line for the next ten years. If a team didn’t need a quarterback, I’d sanction taking him number one overall.

2. Buffalo Bills
Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia - Smith has some natural arm and athletic talent and I think we’ve only scratched the surface of what he’s able to do. A Robert Griffin-esque run up draft boards wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

3. Oakland Raiders
Matt Barkley, QB, USC - Matt Barkley is one of the handful of elite quarterback prospects in the 2013 NFL Draft. Being a senior prospect with a ton of experience might be enough to put him on the top of many NFL Draft boards.

4. Minnesota Vikings
Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU* - Mingo has a quick first step, but will need to add bulk to be more than a rush specialist. Mingo could be the Aldon Smith of the 2013 NFL Draft.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars
Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia - Jones might a smart decision by coming back for another season of college football. The very physical linebacker plays a little like James Harrison in his prime.

6. New Orleans Saints
Manti Te’o, LB, Notre Dame - Te’o surprisingly stayed in school for his senior season and should be one of the first linebackers off the board. His blend of athleticism of power will make him a first round pick.

7. Arizona Cardinals
Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M - Joeckel had a very impressive sophomore year for the Aggies, routinely shutting down impressive pass-rushers like Jackson Jeffcoat. If he can survive the SEC in 2012, he will be a first rounder.

8. Indianapolis Colts
Robert Woods, WR, USC* - A dynamic receiving threat at USC, Woods has flashed that he is ready to make an impact in 2013 as a rookie. If a team that doesn’t need a quarterback is picking at the top spot, he could be the pick if they don’t make a trade.

9. Miami Dolphins
Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama* - Milliner is the complete package. He has the tenacity and will to tackle that Dre Kirkpatrick has, with vastly superior technique and recovery skills. If he can clean up his tackling technique, he’ll be an early pick.

10. St. Louis Rams
Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina - Coming off of a bad knee injury, Lattimore needs to show that he is 100% healthy in 2012. If he is, he should be the first back off the board.

11. Dallas Cowboys
Alex Okafor, DE/OLB, Texas - Okafor is going to show as a senior that he can rush from the edge and make plays in the backfield. At 6’4″ and 260 pounds, Okafor projects as a DE/OLB in the NFL.

12. Seattle Seahawks
Ricky Wagner, OT, Wisconsin - Wagner is the next Badger lineman that will find a home at tackle in the NFL. With a great senior season, he could go in the top half of the first round.

13. Chicago Bears
David Amerson, CB, NC State* - 6’2″ corners that can cover and make plays on the ball are hard to come by. Amerson could end up in the top five by draft time, although many are concerned about his ability to break the 4.6 barrier.

14. Carolina Panthers
Johnathon Hankins, DL, Ohio State - Hankins is a big defensive tackle with surprising agility and speed for a guy that weighs in well north of 320 pounds.

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State - Banks came back for his senior season and should challenge to be one of the first cornerbacks chosen. His 6’1″ height will turn a lot of heads.

16. New York Jets
Michael Buchanan, DE, Illinois - Buchanan is a dynamic athlete with experience as a hybrid DE/OLB. With a strong senior season, you’ll start seeing his name in a lot of 2013 NFL Mock Drafts.

17. San Diego Chargers
Keenan Allen, WR, California* - Allen is a very talented receiver that over-shadowed NEPD favorite Marvin Jones last year at California. Look for him to compete with Robert Woods as the top receiver in the nation.

18. Tennessee Titans
Chance Warmack, OL, Alabama* - Part of the incredibly talented Alabama offensive line, Warmack has outplayed the more heralded Barrett Jones and D.J. Fluker at times, well, most of the time.

19. Philadelphia Eagles
Logan Thomas, QB, Virginia Tech* - You will see a lot of Cam Newton comparisons with Logan Thomas, although Thomas has a long way to go before he can live up to them. The talent is certainly there and he will be tempted to declare for the 2013 Draft. If he does, he could very well be the #1 overall pick.

20. Cincinnati Bengals
Sean Porter, OLB, Texas A&M - Fair or not, Porter is going to be compared to Von Miller for his edge-rushing abilities. A strong 2012 season could propel him into the top 20 of the 2013 NFL Draft.

21. St. Louis Rams (Via Washington)
Jackson Jeffcoat, DE/OLB, Texas* - Jeffcoat is an exciting edge rusher that could climb into the top ten of the 2013 NFL Draft with another strong season at Texas.

22. Atlanta Falcons
Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan* - Lewan is a top-drawer tackle prospect that can anchor an offensive line for the next decade if he chooses to declare after his junior year.

23. Kansas City Chiefs
Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas - Wilson has a live arm and NFL size and could challenge Matt Barkley, Logan Thomas and Geno Smith to be the number one pick in 2013 NFL Mock Drafts.

24. Detroit Lions
Aaron Dobson, WR, Marshall - Dobson is an insanely talented receiver with phenomenal hands and great physical skills. He could go much higher if he can clean up his route-running skills.

25. Denver Broncos
Devin Taylor, DE, South Carolina - Taylor gets over-shadowed at times by the phenom Jadeveon Clowney next to him, but he is a very athletic and talented defensive end. He should be a first round pick in 2013, followed by Clowney in 2014.

26. Houston Texans
Sam Montgomery, DE/OLB, LSU* - Featuring a lightning-quick first step and the frame to add a few pounds, Montgomery is one of the most electric pass-rush prospects for the 2013 NFL Draft.

27. San Francisco 49ers
Tyler Bray, QB, Tennessee*
Bray has exhibited good poise, a strong arm and improving accuracy. If he chooses to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft, he could easily be a top ten pick.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers
Jonathan Cooper, OL, North Carolina
Cooper had the talent to come out as a junior last year, but with another year of seasoning, he has a chance at being the first interior lineman chosen.

29. Baltimore Ravens
Eric Reid, FS, LSU* - Reid was part of the insanely talented LSU defensive backfield in 2011. If he can continue to develop, he and Tyrann Mathieu will be first round picks in 2013.

30. Green Bay Packers
T.J. McDonald, FS, USC - McDonald is an athletically gifted safety prospect that can play in the box, play centerfield and cover tight ends. He might not last this long into the first round come April.

31. New England Patriots
Kenny Vaccaro, CB/S, Texas - Vaccaro was one of my favorite defensive players in 2011, shutting down slot receivers, blitzing the quarterback and helping against the run.

32. New York Giants
Barrett Jones, OL, Alabama - Jones is a technically sound lineman that pretty much play any position on the line. He will be a good addition to pretty much any NFL team.

Draft Talk Posted September 11, 2012
Written by: Norm Hitzges

By Jeff Bowers (Norm’s NFL Draft Researcher)

When you’re a draft nut such as Norm and myself are, it is never too early to begin looking ahead to draft time next year as it pertains to potential Cowboys needs. Taking a snapshot of the Cowboys as they emerge from camp and into the season and of the potential candidates coming from the college ranks, here’s just some interesting prospects to keep your eyes on as you watch football on Saturdays. It’s a small inside look at what a scouting department does year round in preparation for the NFL draft in April.

As the Cowboys are currently constituted (and given potential Free Agents), I believe their needs for next year to be the following:

1. Interior Offensive Line
2. Defensive Line
3. Outside Linebacker
4. Running Back
5. Cornerback
6. Wide Receiver
7. Tight End
8. Quarterback

The list of potential Free Agents in 2013 are as follows:

- RB Felix Jones
- CB Mike Jenkins
- OLB Anthony Spencer
- LS L.P. Ladoucer
- DE Kenyon Coleman
- OLB Victor Butler
- TE John Phillips
- OG Derrick Dockery
- WR Kevin Ogletree
- SS Barry Church- Restricted
- C Phil Costa- Restricted
- DB Danny McCray- Restricted

Of this list, Jones and Jenkins are almost assuredly gone unless they take a large pay cut. Spencer was franchised this year and due a healthy pay day, and Butler’s spot as #1 OLB reserve may be taken by this year’s 4th rounder Kyle Wilber. Players just beginning to emerge like Church, Ogletree and Phillips could play their way into bigger money.

With that being said, let’s take a look at some players in the college ranks to keep an eye on that currently may fall in the realm on Cowboys interest. Of course, all these evaluations are subjective and can change at any moment. The Draft is by no means an exact science, and ebbs and flows with ever changing values.

1st Round Prospects

Now, as much as Norm and I may plead with Jerry to take Interior OL in the first, that seems to be relatively unrealistic and very against Jerry’s draft profile. So, we will focus here on the DL and pass rushers. Also, I am projecting the Cowboys for a lower half of the round pick, probably in the 20’s but will include players of surrounding talent levels.

Nose Tackles:

1. Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah Height: 6-4. Weight: 325. Projected Top 10 Pick
2. Johnathan Hankins*, DT, Ohio State Height: 6-4. Weight: 325 Projected Top 25
3. Jonathan Jenkins*, DT, Georgia Height: 6-3. Weight: 351. Projected 2nd round

As is becoming increasingly apparent, Jay Ratliff is not getting any younger and has being the warrior he has in the middle of that 3-4 defense has taken a toll. So adding real beef on that D Line would be very nice. The Lotulelei kid is a Vince Wilfolk starter kit and unattainable without a massive trade up. Hankins from Ohio State intrigues me greatly. He could fall right in that sweet spot and his versatility could have Rob Ryan salivating.

3-4 Defensive Ends:

1. William Gholston*, DE, Michigan State Height: 6-7. Weight: 278 Projected 1st-2nd
2. Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama Height: 6-4. Weight: 320 Projected 2nd round
3. Margus Hunt, DE, SMU Height: 6-8. Weight: 275 Projected 3rd-4th

With Coleman most certainly gone and Spears potentially a cap casualty, the DE position could definitely be a need next spring. Gholston, the cousin of Jets 1st round bust Vernon Gholston, shows lots of potential, but not much consistency. Williams is from Australia and very raw, but will get some great training in that Saban 3-4 defense. Hunt from SMU is also foreign, from Estonia, and is much more a project, but does have an amazing proficiency at blocking field goals

Outside Linebackers:

1. Jackson Jeffcoat*, DE, Texas Height: 6-5. Weight: 245 Projected 1st round
2. Brandon Jenkins, DE/OLB, Florida State Height: 6-3. Weight: 260 Project 1st round
3. Alex Okafor, DE, Texas Height: 6-4. Weight: 265 Projected early 2nd round

This year’s draft class looks rich with potential 3-4 OLBs, and with Spencer’s and Butler’s impending free agency and DeMarcus Ware clearing the 30 year old mark, this may be the time to add that complimentary pass rusher. Jeffcoat, the son of former Cowboys great Jim, seems like a natural fit, but isn’t asked to drop in coverage often. Jenkins is an amazing talent, but suffered a season ending Lyfranc injury in Game 1 this year. Okafor is an all round athlete who puts up excellent numbers.

2nd-3rd round Prospects

In this section we will focus on the OL, RB and CBs. All 3 of these areas could suffer due to free agents losses and are primed to have an infusion of talent. Keep in mind, a good solid draft should yield 1-2 immediate starters, 2-3 contributing backups and a couple more developmental backups.

Offensive Center:

1. Khaled Holmes, C, USC Height: 6-4. Weight: 305 Projected early 2nd
2. Graham Pocic, C, Illinois Height: 6-5. Weight: 305 Projected 3rd-4th
3. Gabe Ikard*, G/C, Oklahoma Height: 6-2. Weight: 295 Projected 3rd-4th

As with most years, the Center position is pretty thin. Holmes is far and away the finest pure center candidate, but as we saw in last year’s draft, Peter Konz wasn;t picked until well into Day 2. Pocic has great size but needs to use better leverage and Ikard isn’t a natural center, but his size suggests he should be

Offensive Guards:

1. Barrett Jones, T/G/C, Alabama Height: 6-5. Weight: 311 Projected Top 25
2. Chance Warmack, G, Alabama Height: 6-3. Weight: 320 Projected Top 25
3. Travis Frederick*, G, Wisconsin Height: 6-4. Weight: 338 Projecte 2nd round

When you want Guards, you go to either Alabama or Wisconsin! Jones’s versatility will make teams drool and could make him out of reach for Dallas. Warmack is a road grader who is SEC tested. Frederick is a physical wonder, but benefitted from being surrounded by a lot of talent.

Cornerbacks:

1. Nickell Robey*, CB, USC Height: 5-8. Weight: 165 Projected 2nd- 3rd
2. Branden Smith, CB, Georgia Height: 5-11. Weight: 182 Projected 3rd
3. Carrington Byndom*, CB, Texas Height: 6-0. Weight: 180 Projected 2nd-3rd

I know the Cowboys just bought and drafted 2 corners, but with Jenkins being free, the depth at that position may be of concern. Robey is a little Bulldog who just won’t quit, Smith is SEC tested but needs to fill out some more, and Byndom is very good, but unlikely to declare in next year’s draft.

Later round Prospects

With the other positions, here’s just a few names to watch out for during the college football season:

Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia Height: 5-9. Weight: 176 Projected 4th round

Ryan Swope, WR, Texas A&M Height: 6-1. Weight: 206 Projected 3rd-4th

Andre Ellington, RB, Clemson Height: 5-10. Weight: 190 Projected 2nd-3rd

Michael Dyer*, RB, Arkansas State Height: 5-9. Weight: 210 Projected 3rd-5th

Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse Height: 6-2. Weight: 229 Projected 4th-5th

Michael Williams, TE, Alabama Height: 6-6. Weight: 270 Projected 4th-6th

D.J. Swearinger, S, South Carolina Height: 6-0. Weight: 210 Projected 5th

Hi Mel, other than Barkely is it just me,or does this seem like a down year overalll for top prospects?

Mel Kiper (1:23 PM)
It depends on the juniors. It hinges on how many of them come out. After Matt Barkley, the next 5 players are all juniors: Jarvis Jones, Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, Justin Hunter. Hunter has Julio Jones type potential. How many of them come out? That will determine the draft.

Tyler Eifert, please. Thanks.

Late 1st/early 2nd is what they are saying now. Talented tight end. Would be a nice luxury pick. I like the Stanford TE (6 foot 8) a lot and UCLA has Joseph Fauria, who's 6 foot 7 and very athletic.

I know everyone is screaming for Oline, but I think we're at the point where we can start going BPA and another weapon for Romo and Witten's heir apparent would be ideal.

Fauria looked good vs Nebraska
