The D sucked ass last night and they were exposed by an offensive minded tactitian. But we can fix the D with a solid draft or two.

But you can't fix the QB position without growing pains. And you certainly can't fix the position without making an attempt to fix the position. Identify, draft and develop your QB. If that guy doesn't work out, the wash, rinse and repeat.
Agree with you on QB.

Not sure I agree on defense though. I think they need something different on the coaching side, there is obviously some serious flaws with Quinn's scheme now and I seriously doubt he is going to correct it. This season is starting to smell like Rob Ryan or Monte Kiffin bad on defense to me. The other thing is he is too loyal to guys like Kearse and Hooker and he is infatuated with LVE being a "pass rusher" too much.

I thought I read Turpin was gone 4-6 weeks, but McCarthy said he may be able to practice this week.

Mahomes just did and just had his contract restructured
What do you mean by "just did" because what I'm looking at on Spotrac suggests a relatively cap friendly contract.

For example, in 2026 (only 3 years away, less really) his dead cap drops to 13 million. In 2027 it's 6.5 million. By 2028 there is no more dead money.

This gives KC flexibility because barring injury we know Mahomes will be a Chief. So the Chiefs can raise the pay of other players in those years and adjust based on the cap.

Mahomes is signed to 2033!!!! That gives the Chiefs flexibility.

2032 and and 2033 are voidable years.

Compare this to DAK PRESCOTT who put up a fuss about a 5 year deal!

AND YES, in 2024 Mahomes will be paid a King's Ransom. But, when Mahomes goes into my GM office and I ask Mahomes, "How many RIngs have you won me"? He;'ll answer, a few, plus a few AFC Championships.

So I don't have a problem rewarding those who bring home the gold with some gold.

Again, he is signed to 2033, so the Chiefs can plan and adjust accordingly. Will Dak want yet another bite of the apple?

Hopefully last nights game was the final nail in any and all contract extension talks for Dak
It's unfortunate that it will not happen, but I wish I knew of a way to get fans to boycott the Cowboys until Jerry and Stephen Jones resign.

Jerry has tried everything except resigning for 5 years. He can go back to it or Stephen can.

I wonder if we'll get embarrassed by the Chargers too? Bosa is giving Bosa some pointers etc.

I can't say I'm confident that we will win.

I pray that JJ does not renew or extend Dak’s contract. I know we are stuck right now but maybe some QB desperate team would want him. When your QB is the weak link you have a problem. Really two problems. Not only is he playing poorly but you are paying a huge premium at the expense of retaining quality players. I have seen enough of Dak over the last eight years to know he ain’t the guy! Unfortunately It’s time for a reboot at QB.

It's all about coaching and attitude, but the one huge advantage they have over us talent wise is at QB.
It's top to bottom, man for man, their roster is better. Wake up to the reality. They've built a TEAM not just a collection of gadget players. And it totally showed. They physically pushed us around at will. Did everything they wanted to do and we offered little to jo resistance.

Not that Collinsworth knows everything, but didn't Collingsworth say that McCarthy hasn't even implemented the 7 step drops yet?
I heard him say that, but I'm not sure I believe it.

That said, the OL has been a revolving door so far this year. It's hard to fully implement everything when you are having to mask for deficiencies up front. And then there's the QB himself., who has some many negatives thats its hard to cover for that.

I think it's apparent McCarthy and Schottenheimer wanted to speed up Prescott getting rid of the ball so it makes sense to me most of the routes have been shorter. A lot of the sacks Prescott took the past couple seasons were when he held onto the ball far too long, and it's started happening again the last couple games.

Like I said in my other post, we have a serious problem with Terrence Steele. That might be the lowest pass blocking grade I have ever seen since I started looking at PFF info. Their info also confirms what I thought about the safeties, they were horrendous. I don't understand how Hooker's grade was as high as it was because I thought he was bad too, but whatever.

Zero confidence we'll win.

In fact I expect it's going to be another ugly loss.

Wil be very interesting to see what transpires during the bye week if that happens.

Eh.

We've spent a ton of resources in the offensive and defensive lines for quite some time now. There's nothing "gadget" about that.

They have the best offensive coach in the league in terms of play design and play calling. I think they have better skill people than we do, but the guys we have (other than QB) are not bottom feeder talent either. Lamb is really good. Pollard is good. Jake Ferguson is good. Cooks and Gallup have both been 1000 yd receivers.

Shanahan is a huge difference maker. Their QB over ours is a huge difference maker. The other huge difference is the culture there. We have the circus master GM and his constant enabling and excuse making for garbage play, and they expect results.

There's not a massive difference in overall talent level.
