Look at Bob Hayes TDs considering he played during the run era.

Bullet Bob is why we have cover 2, double coverage, bump and run, zone, the whole schemer. He was so fast and so nimble that he changed the game forever, and Dandy Don wasn't afraid to just throw it as far as he could and let Bob run under it.

Look at his yards too. Almost many yards as Dez with 2/3 the catches. He was the man.

That's what I'm pointing out. His YPC is skewed by the fact that defenses had no answer for him. They had to invent new coverages because of him.

A Cowboys’ contingent, including head coach Jason Garrett and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, spent Wednesday in Alabama looking at draft prospects. Lal coached up Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley, who could be a Cowboys’ target at No. 19 if he lasts that long.

Garrett and Lal were among the Cowboys’ staffers to attend SMU’s Pro Day on Thursday, getting a good look at wide receiver Courtland Sutton.

“He can catch the ball like no other,” Lal said of Sutton. “He’s got a huge catch radius. Strong hands. So that’s a start. If a receiver can catch, obviously that’s key. Then, he’s coachable. We were giving him, on the fly, some coaching points and kind of coaching him a little hard, seeing how he would respond, and he responded. He’s not polished like most of these guys coming out, but a great athlete, and he’s a moldable piece of clay.”

The bold are very interesting comments.

Stevie, from the article:
"We can do some things to help (Dak) more. Dak is a guy who's little different than Tony - probably more like Troy in terms of the passing game," Stephen Jones said on The Doomsday Podcast last week. "He wants precise routes. He wants to throw the ball on time to areas whereas Tony would improvise a little more.

"...Dak is a little more disciplined in terms of wanting the receivers to be good route runners and be where they're supposed to be and those types of things."
In other words, winning football. Romo's approach netted us exactly nothing other than entertainment. Do you want to be entertaining at the expense of being legitimately in the championship hunt? Jerry really doesn't care, likely he pines for the days where week in and week out, the Boys put on a great show. The money is going to be there for Jerry regardless, he has no financial incentive whatsoever to strive for the Lombardi. He's rigged the game where winning or losing doesn't affect the revenue all that much.

Stevie is saying, "Let's try something we haven't tried since the mid 90s."

Sounds like a lot of BS to me. Let's run some "precise " routes with a QB that's inaccurate. Sounds good to me. Bottom line is that Dak isn't tailored for this type of offense and he's nothing like Troy in terms of accuracy.

And good to see you (Dooms) still still taking shots at Romo while we're just praying to break 100 passing yards the first half.

I think Stevies thought process is that it is harder to find a QB than a number 1 receiver. As such he is going to do whatever possible to see if Dak is a franchise QB (I have said repeatedly I dont think so) while ridding them of what he believes is an over paid distraction/ problem that is clearly on the down side of his career. It is critical they find out this year whether Dak is the QB before Jerry trips all over himself to give Dak the biggest contract known to man, tying him to them for a decade.

This is a make or break year for Dak

Or at least it should be. He either succeeds and we go all in on him and overpay for him as Jeruh is want to do at times

Or....

He digresses and we move on after this season

That’s the way it should work

But we all know that we will sign Dak to a huge contract at an overly inflated price even if he doesn’t show any signs of improvement this season

I trust Dak a lot more to improve than I trust Dez to improve. Of course both remain to be seen.

There were NO accuracy issues with Dak in season one. Interestingly his accuracy dropped the same year Dez led the league in drops.

Dak was more accurate the first 8 games of the season. He was only sacked 10 times in those 8 games. Whereas he was sacked 22 times in the last 8 games of the season which is also when his accuracy declined. The last 8 games saw a mixture of T.Smith missing 3 games and Zeke missing 6 of those last 8 games.

With a healthy T. Smith this season coupled with Zeke on the field for all 16 (fingers crossed he doesn’t do something stupid and get suspended again) games we hopefully will see an improvement in Dak
